I know everyone is doing Christmas cards, but I still have lots of birthdays coming up, so here is one I did for my nephew's 5th birthday. I was inspired by this card from Happy Heart -Blast Off! by Happy Heart at Splitcoaststampers as I loved her colour scheme and layout.
Layer yellow cs onto green cs, then cut blue cs to fit just inside size of green cs but do not attach just yet. Mix up puddle of watery gold paint and using old bristle brush, splatter blue card. Do same with silver paint. To make shooting stars, add small dot of full-strength gold paint and pull strokes out from it while still wet with your liner brush. Do same with dot of silver paint, and attach to yellow cs once dry. Using white cs, stamp moon, several stars, Saturn, rocketship and aliencraft from Space Cadet set, with Stazon black. Colour with watered-down paint, shade with full strength. Add dry-brushed highlights with white paint. Cut out images once dry. To make planet, cut piece of white cs to fit corner of card, then stamp craters with Stazon black to fill the cs. Colour same as other images. When dry, add wash of silver paint over top to make planet shimmer, and cut edge of card with decorative scissors to resemble a rough surface. Hand-draw flag with Artline pen and colour as before, then cut out. Attach rocketship with mounts, rest of images with glue. Stamp sentiment with green ink onto white cs and emboss with clear embossing powder. Round edges with corner punch and attach with mounts. And no glitter - that's a first for me! Just some splattered paint on my sewing machine (whoops - do be careful when splattering!). TFL and thks to Happy Heart for my inspiration!
