What a great choice of inspiration this week, great challenge Stef! Here's the challenge.
I choose this one to CASE, and then added a few extras.
-I used Prismacolor pencil and baby oil to color the image then using a VersaMark pen I went over the entire image being careful to stay within the black lines, pour on clear embossing powder and heated to create a resist for sponging on the background colors.
-The red is stamped on the left side with Bamboo II after I stamped off the image on scrap paper. Both red panels are sea sponged with distress ink.
-The bottom pieces were in my scrap box already prepared so I think they are polished stone using Stampin Up Classic inks.
-Faux brads are done by punching out the squares, lightly gluing them to paper so they donÂ’t blow away, cover with the VersaMark pen keeping away from the edge so they donÂ’t stick to the paper, pour on clear embossing powder and heat. Now pull them from the paper and glue to the card. I use a long straight pen as a tool to do this and itÂ’s very quick.
-Paper piercing and stitching with real thread was also done. The thread is taped to the back side. Since I mounted this on a white cardstock base I used a black marker to color in the area of piercing so the white wouldnÂ’t show through.

How beautiful. I didn't like the little red squares on most of the original art but I do like your little faux brads, and the gorgeous texturing on the coloured panels. And the beautiful iris, of course.
