I made this card for the VSN Mini Cabaret Challenge “Inspired by Moulin Rouge”. Our challenge was to use one of Nicole Kidman’s costumes from the famous movie as the inspiration for a card.
I decided to make a sleigh using her black and gold costume (seen HERE) as my inspiration. I cut the sleigh in black card stock and then cut a second sleigh in gold using the shadow feature.
I stamped pine trees in the background and cut pieces from a lace doily, which I lightly brushed with gold, to simulate a snowy landscape. I used the stamping off method to stamp the sleigh and the trees.
Things I wish I could have done differently had time allowed: I had wanted to stamp and emboss a gold crown on the side of the sleigh but my stamp was simply too large for the size of the sleigh. And since I didn’t “test this out” until I was ready to stamp it, I didn’t have the time to be able to cut and finish a larger sleigh.
I wanted to make a small panel for the bottom using the same black and gold treatment I used for the sleigh, but again, time didnÂ’t allow, so I simply stamped the greeting and embossed it in gold on a white panel that I edged in gold by brushing it with my ink pad and put that on the inside of the card.
Also, the pen that I used for the dots didnÂ’t give me the exact effect I wanted, which was more metallic and shiny. I thought about gluing gold beads but ran out of time.

I am glad you didn't change a thing because I LOVE LOVE it! Such a unique image, and I love how you added the ribbony reigns! The lacy snow at the bottom is a great contrast to the blacks and golds, and so pretty! Love the swirls, too....this is one fab challenge card! Thanks soo much for playing!
