I made this card for the VSN Mini Cabaret Challenge “Emerging Color” which directed us to use a particular technique to get the “see through the color” effect. When I first saw the challenge I thought, “No WAY in 45minutes!” but it was remarkably easy and even after one false start, I still finished with 5 minutes to spare.
I am going to try to re-photograph this in natural light with the hope that the underlying design will show up better. I opted to stamp only in silver – I stamped a bride and groom and doves with flourishes and hearts. I used the wedding cake from the set as my “window” stamp and positioned it over the upper portion of the bridal couple, and then off the sheet on opposite corners to capture samples of the other decorations with the bottom and top of the cake. In real life, the effect is very pretty, but the camera isn’t doing it justice tonight.
On my first attempt, after stamping the underlying designs, I stamped with embossing ink as directed but when I sprinkled the powder, it stuck to all of the designs because they were still somewhat damp. I found that a hair dryer worked magic for drying time.
All in all, I am thrilled that Karolyn chose this technique to highlight. I probably wouldnÂ’t have tried it otherwise, and I love the effect (not to mention itÂ’s so simple yet lovely).

This is fabulous!!! You did a marvelous job highlighting your background images. I really love the color palette, and that pretty silvery ribbon just tops it all off. Thank you so much for playing my challenge . . . I'm so glad you enjoyed and will try other techniques in the future!! Hope to see you again in November!!
