This challenge was such fun, Wendy, I had to play again. Check it out! It's a day to honor and remember for my dear SCS friend and I wanted to create a card that would celebrate the bittersweet. Words are still hard, but I have to fumble along with what I am given!
I 'happened' upon this fabulous paper from Provocraft I have been hoarding. I need at least two more sheets in my stash...hope Michaels' hasn't discontinued this one. It is the most beautiful leaf paper I have ever seen. I cuttled it with the Allegro embossing folder. I used B Line Designs awesome vintage oval plate which I inked in TH di walnut stain and embossed with Antiquities rust and used twinks (pink chiffon and bronze medallion) to age the middle. The sing is a combination of the dancing alpha and an All Night Media set of words (ing). I popped it on foam and also used copper eyelets to secure it to the card. The organ has special meaning to my friend. This is from a local artist I'm sure taken from a vintage book and pressed into rubber. If you look closely you can see a harlequin pattern above the foot pedals. I inked this on SU very vanilla with TH di walnut stain and brushed corduroy. I used a VersaMark pen to just emboss the darker spots on the organ. My cardbase is SU really rust. I stamped home on the right upper edge in TH di aged maghoney embossing with TH di peeling paint EP...rubbing some of it off after cooling. The word SOUL is stamped in the upper corner of my "LEAF music" using aged maghoney again.
I don't know about you, but the gift of music is one of my greatest blessings in life...not my voice, but my love and appreciation for it. I love the definition:
music |ˈmyoōzik|
noun
1 the art or science of combining vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion. So I'm hoping the songs that were sung wrapped around our dear friend comforting her like arms of love. And that she'll remember the melody is always in her heart.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and comments are always enjoyed!
