I made this card for the Inspiration Challenge of the SCS celebration of the 2008 World Card Making Day. The challenge was to use the cover of the current Coldwater Creek catalogue as the inspiration for a card. The cover is a bright orange background with a picture of birch (?) leaves sprinkled with rain drops, resting on a bed of pine needles.
I used a stamp of small maple leaf to stamp a leaf image in the palest yellow. I used watercolor pencils to shade it and edged it with Amber Clay (ink). For the background I used two designer papers, one a water color leaf print and the other, a scrap of a weave print.
I sanded and painted over the chipboard shape with acrylic paint (Folk Art Linen) and then used ink to shade it close to the color of the background paper. I edged it with Amber Clay like the leaf and hand lettered the greeting. Although I had a ribbon in a complimentary shade of palest terra cotta, I used twine for a more natural feel.
