I got busy today doing the challenges for World Cardmaking Day since I was at the OR/WA gathering yesterday.
This card is kind of a mix between a stippled background and a brayered sky (no brayer involved). To get the effect here, I stamped the tree image on a pre-determined size of Whisper White. I used Basic Grey instead of Black to get a softer look. Then, I stamped again on scratch paper and cut out the horizon line. I covered the "snow" area with the scratch paper and started stippling on my inks.
The look I was going for is the first light on a winter morning. I started with Almost Amethyst around the trees and working up higher around the center tree. I added Lovely Lilac around that, and lastly, put Elegant Eggplant around the outside. I then sponged the edges with Eggplant as well. Leaving the scratch paper covering the horizon, I sponged in a touch of eggplant. I ended up using a little eye makeup applicator to get just the tiniest bit of color. All of my sponges were just too bulky. I guess, looking back, I could have used the tiniest bit of sponge held with tweezers and that would have worked great as well. I mounted the image panel on Elegant Eggplant, then on Whisper White. The DP is from a retired Almost Amethyst Pack. The background is Cuttlebugged with Swiss Dots.
The sentiment is from Papertrey and stamped and embossed using silver detail powder. I punched out the oval with the small SU oval punch.
