I'm so glad that I got to play this time! This month's MFT Guest Designer challenge was paper piecing.
I decided to actually create a "quilt"-like coat. I cut quarter inch strips of some patterned paper and weaved them together. I then glued them onto another sheet of paper (so the edges wouldn't fall apart when I cut them later). I stamped onto the weaved paper and then cut it out. :-) In the future, I'd recommend pasting onto a thinner sheet of CS (not 110 lb)... since it was a LOT to cut through... The dog's coat was probably the hardest to cut through since it had more details thanks to its little legs.
For the umbrella, I clear embossed the umbrella onto the scrap pieces of patterned paper I had and then cut them out. Added a touch of wire for the handle.
Instead of just a solid strip in the back, I wanted some of the square effect like the coat so I cut some random squares and layered them across the back.
I did some blue rain in the background on kraft and then silver rain on the main image - i didn't want the blue to take away from her awesome coat!
Can't see the glaze I put on the puddle, but trust me - it's glazed up! I even accidentally bumped it while waiting for it to dry and then learned that a wet paper towel does wonders in smoothing accidental finger prints!
