these are my crepe paper roses, that were used on the "a passion for flowers" card. they are made the same way a sugarcrafter would make them.
i used 20 petals for the full rose, and i reduced the number of petals depending on how open i wanted the bud. the petals are layered around a peardrop shape of crepe paper glued onto a wire. once all petals were attached i added a calyx made with green paper and a 5 petal flower punch then i used florist tape to bind wire and attach leaves.
the leaves are made with a leaf punch, i used green paper with brown chalk highlighting to give them depth and make the look more realistic. i added dark pink chalk to the inner part of the roses and on the outer edge of the petals to help with contrast.
thanks for looking, tracie x

OMG! These brought tear to my eyes. My dad's family use to make crepe paper roses and wood fiber flowers and they sold them during the depression. My dad remembered how to make them and taught my mom who for several years made them and sold them for prom's and weddings etc... God bless you for making my day!
