I made this for Cindy's teapot challenge this week - http://mothermark.blogspot.com/2008/...uesday-14.html. Very nice teapot, very hard challenge. I wondered could I combine it with today's WTI challenge, quotes. If a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, could a sweet by any other name be a rose?? But I didn't have any sweet stamps, darn it.
Anyway, I got round the 2-step stamping problem by layering up my only rose stamp - Roses in Winter. I stamped it with Versamark on white card and embossed with white EP. Then I sponged it with ColorBox Pigment Creamy White. I cut them out, shaped them slightly with my fingers, sponged the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Antique Linen and layered them up. The circle is embossed with the CB D'Vine Swirl, and the edges sponged as before. The square was done with a Fiskars Texture Plate - Lines. I only embossed every other line, and sponged it a bit with the Antique Linen. Punched out the corners, wrapped some swirly ribbon around and added Dew Drops. Now I need a strong
cup of coffee, that was not an easy card, LOL.
Actually, seeing MariLynn's lovely ribbon roses reminded me of a kind of ribbon embroidery technique I used on an anniversary card for DH about 3 years ago, so I may even be back with another!

Excellent job on this! I'm still trying to get my flower to work. Maybe by tomorrow... Paper flowers are really hard for me. Cindy makes them look like they're no big deal! Great card!
