This card all started with my friend challenging me to make something with "tropical colors". When I pulled out the colors she suggested, I was a bit concerned. It looked WAY too much like the stuff I wore as a kid in the 80s. lol. However, as I started making the flowers, I realized how cool it would look with the Striped Wipe technique I saw here.
So, the flowers are stamped color on color, with the same color marker to color the outside highlights. I used the White Signo Gel pen for the stamens, in the center, then I used the yo-yo yellow marker to color over top the white! I thought that was pretty slick. I also used the Versamarker pen to add more highlights around the stamens as well. Then I cut them out.
I did the striped baby wipe technique for the sunset. I don't have any glossy paper, so I made this work on plain whisper white. I had to make a lot of passes, and dab a lot, but I got the job done. I am surprised I didn't ruin the cardstock! Then I stamped the leaf images onto the sunset, colored in the leaves with the basic black marker, tied the ribbon, added layers, and ta-da! lol.
Seriously, I am pleased with how this turned out! TFL.
