I made this for Cindy's Teapot challenge #12 - http://mothermark.blogspot.com/2008/...uesday-12.html .
This was such a fun and easy one, and I have two friends who collect owls so no problem with finding a use for it.
I used a Sideshow Stamps owl which really suited the teapot. I stamped him onto 3 different shades of brown card and layered him up.
Well, I got my mother's old pasta machine and the Fiskars Texture Plates don't fit in it, but the bark one is easy to do with an embossing too. so that makes the oval mount for the owl, then I sponged it slightly. I punched out a whole load of leaves, drew on veins and then lightly scored the centre line with the fine end of an embossing tool so that I could fold them slightly. The green layer is also a Fiskars Texture Plate - pasta machine or not I still only have one CB embossing folder, with not a leaf in sight.
I added buttons and some WRMK hardware and cream organza ribbon. The ribbon through the hardware was distressed with my heat gun. I am afraid all the ribbon looks a bit wonky - it has been raining all day and a scan turned out better than my best photo - apart from the ribbon.

Okay, talk about your details! Can't believe that you did the drawing of the veins and the scoring on each little leaf!!! Holy cow girl! But the detail is what makes it wonderful! It is just lovely! Oh yeah, and your owl...it looks like its carved much like the teapot. One of your owl collecting friends is gonna be doing flips over this one! Great card!
Glad you made it to the tea party this week...how was the trip over from Ireland? Snort! Thanks for the link!
