I made this for Cindy's teapot challenge #10 - http://mothermark.blogspot.com/2008/...uesday-10.html.
Given that I did the knitting and embroidery in work, it might have been a good idea to print a picture of her teapot for reference, I don't have a good visual memory! So my grey bit is not quite what it should be.
Anyway, when I first saw it, it reminded me of knitting, so that's what I went with. I used to have some lovely 4-ply in the perfect colours, but I guess I must have used it in my last scrap jumper. So it was my crewel embroidery wool I used, on the finest needles I could find. Afterwards I embroidered it with lazy-daisy stitches and white seed stitches and French knots, and added crocheted green and yellow strips. The yellow and green are a wide rib, the pink and grey are moss stitch to try to give a more knobbly effect - and to give me grief with tension problems, sigh...
I taught myself how to write in a circle in Word, and then discovered that Open Office on my PC wouldn't open it properly so I had to hike DH's laptop up to my room.
The photo in the centre of the sentiment is a tiny little jade teapot, about the size of the top joint of my thumb. It actually pours - well, it dribbles, more like, LOL. I don't remember whether it came from China or Chinatown, one or the other!
I think my concept was good but the execution is slightly lacking in polish.

This is so creative, I had to put it in my favorites...It has inspired me to look more carefully at all the knitting, crochet and embroidery supplies that I have...(I guess I should say used to use before I discovered card making---smile--

Sabrina, Wow! I could so see the teapot when I saw your card. I can't believe the amount of time that you put into making this card. The recipient of your card will know that they have been loved on when they get it.

This is the most textural card that I have seen - truly a mixed media. What a nice blend of paper and fiber. It's a very inspired teapot challenge card - love it!!!
