This is a rare species of butterfly that is found only on the African planes and has been known to stall plane engines while flying overhead in nasty swarms...that's why this is the dreaded African Butterfly!
The challenge was to make a card using the brayered batik technique and some animal stamp to mimic the animals that roam the plains of Africa...this challenge was issued by my friend Beth, and not wanting to disappoint, I played along!
I really like the ease of this technique using only a brayer and spectrum ink pad...then stamping an image in versamark and black embossing it. The happy hellos is dotted with a very fine tip black sharpie, and the "brads" are faux...just punched out paper with a 1/4 inch circle punch and adhered with glue...that's how I kept this under the dreaded 45 minute rule!
Thanks for looking!

Love your card! Wow, you are good getting this done in the time slot. I love the BLUEs on it! PURTY!!!
I also love your story! It IS true! There are LOTS of butterflies in certain areas at certain times in Africa. Well, in Zaire/Democratic Republic of Congo there were in 1995 when we were there! And my hubby had to clean squashed butterflies off the windshield everytime he landed! They were BEAUTIFUL around all the vegetation we had in the jungle. Where ARE my Africa pictures? When I find them I will give proof to Traci's story. Well, at least the fact that there are butterflies there! LOL!

Traci- you made this dreaded African butterfly awfully pretty! I have never used a brayer, but may have to pick it up and dust it soon! Beautiful card!
