This card is for Jacqueline's VSN challenge to make a card that represents our favorite childhood story.
I don't really have a favorite childhood story that I remember, but I DO remember one special time and one special book. I was in first grade and my class was going on a field trip to the local library. I was so excited----I had never been to a library before. Stepping through those doors and seeing those rows and rows of books was the beginning of a lifetime love affair for me. But there was one book in particular that I still remember the most. I don't remember its title, but it had the most exquisite illustrations. Beautifully drawn and vividly colored pictures of fish and all sorts of sea creatures. I remember running my hands along the glossy pages over and over and I had to touch each illustration---I had never seen anything like it!
Even now, and especially when the girls were growing up, I just loved looking at Jan Brett's picture books and touching the pages----such gorgeous illustrations and there's something about them when they're on glossy paper :o)
So...this is my card that represents my story. The orange fish have ice stickles on them, and teh green fish are covered in crystal effects.
Thanks for listening and looking!

This is awesome! Love that the DSP matches your image AND what a sweet, sweet story. Thanks for sharing. I love the idea of the beads on the swirly clips - I'm definitely going to copy that idea. Thanks for playing inmy challenge.

I love your fish card! I really like how you put the little beads on the spiral paper clips. If I were to see this card in real life I would definitely want to touch those beads and clips! TFS!

What a beautiful card, and a wonderful story! I love the paper and the way everything fits both the theme and its history! I especially love that you gave them some gloss of their own!
I agree! glossy paper makes all the difference! We are big fans of DK books around our house because of their glossy paper and interesting sidebars!
