This is my sample for Jaqueline's (Jacqueline) VSN challenge tonight, which was to create a card using your favorite childhood book to inspire you. She tells a darling story about Chicken Little and her childhood memories of that book. I, too, have wonderful memories of the book Wynken, Blynken and Nod. It was a beautifully illustrated book that my grandmother used to read to my sisters and I when we were little. My most vivid recollection of the illustrations was of the three kids and their cat floating in their wooden shoe under the most luminous sweet-faced moon I've ever seen. It was because of this moon illustration that, as a child, I used to look up at the real moon, looking for that same face. These Flourish stamp images were a dead-on reproduction of the moon that I recall. In fact, here is a link to a page from the book that inspired me: http://www.mohumanities.org/images/E...v06/wynken.jpg. The layout of this card was also inspired by Becca's blog, Amazing Paper Grace. Such a wonderful challenge, Jacq - thanks so much for providing us with a challenge that brought back so many wonderful memories for me.

OMG, Karolyn, we WERE separated at birth! (~My most vivid recollection of the illustrations was of the three kids and their cat floating in their wooden shoe under the most luminous sweet-faced moon I've ever seen. It was because of this moon illustration that, as a child, I used to look up at the real moon, looking for that same face.~) I remember this very book and I did the same thing. You got all the talent though, sis. This is beautiful work and so reminiscent of the art in the original.

Everything about this card is perfect. Everything. The shimmer, the soft, warmish-glow colors, the loving moon and sweet sleeping baby images, the texture, the charm. Everything is perfect.
