Default WT805 - Cling Wrap (8/13/20)

Hello friends...Cathy here with a new Ways to Use It Challenge.

Let's all use some cling wrap on our card projects today. You can use the cling wrap (Saran Wrap) any way you like, but some suggestions are to create a pretty background or use your panel for die cutting. Here is a tutorial on SCS that can be used to spark your inspiration:

Cling Wrap Background

Remember to use the keyword WT805 when uploading your project so we can see your creation in the gallery. It helps if you link your project here as well.

The team has some wonderful inspiration for you!
A big thank you to Sabrina, Lisa and Toni for their gorgeous samples!

Here's a link to the WT805 Cling Wrap Gallery .

If you're not sure how to add a link, here's how:
1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one for your card in the gallery, and one for this thread
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE

This is a great technique but you need a little drying time. Glad I can start it tonight. BBL with my card.

Just this morning as I was uploading, I remembered the Crinkled Chalk background technique - which can indeed be used with any inks, not just chalk: Crinkled Chalk background

And for a while I have wanted to give the Felted napkin technique one more attempt, as the cling wrap I bought last year to take camping looks quite different from the one I normally use, so maybe it would work.

Felted Cardstock Tutorial - Splitcoaststampers

I wish I'd thought of these earlier! Been too busy in work this last while.

Here's mine:

WT805 Butterfly Birthday 🦋 by Cook22 - at Splitcoaststampers

and here's the inside with more butterflies to match.

I have the amazing and unaccustomed luxury of a day off today, so I'm about to plug the iron in and give felted cardstock one last go. If it fails again, I'll just assume that American wrap is very different to what we get here .

Sabrina, we have cling wrap that is just a clear plastic wrap. Then we have Glad press and seal wrap. That is sticky a bit on the back and not the same as the clear plastic wrap. Maybe that's the difference. I'll post a picture in a minute.

Kathy - I have some of the Press n Seal that I asked DH to get me on his last two visits to Maine, so that I could do the floating frame technique . Thanks for the photo! I'm sure that the felted napkins is just the regular one, Lydia's tutorial just says plastic wrap and I'm sure she'd have been more specific if she meant Press n Seal, and you can't see in the photo. But hey, I tried the roll I got for camping last year, which is a different colour to the large roll I buy for the kitchen and...it worked!! I've tried this technique several times before and just gave up. Now DH (working at home) is thinking of all the cool napkins he's seen, LOL. The one I normally use is an Irish brand, and it's totally clear. This one I tried today is the Glad brand, and slightly green in colour. I'd better save what's left and use the other stuff for cling wrap backgrounds!!

Intereting that yours is a green color .... but would be great for holiday food gifts! When Lydia tight the Cling Wrap technique at a retreat, we used the regular Cling Wrap. For the felted napkin technique, I've used the regular as well. It's so cool to feel/see the way those turn out!

Since I consider Press n Seal to be as hard and expensive to replace as glossy cardstock, I wasn't even going there today, LOL. That's definitely reserved for the occasional saving of a die-cut layout, and floating frames.
I'll be keeping an eye out for Glad wrap next time I'm shopping.

Here's mine....I made a few backgrounds then went for a walk before the temps and humidity got too bad. I tried DO inks and my results were a bit more subtle than previous times when I used brushos or water color.

Ok, this should be great, except for the drying time. I have no patience. I think I will try it with 2 different paints I have to see what happens. Don't know if I'll use water color paper of 110lb card stock. Lets see what my nifty fingers create.

It's not bright or solid green. But it's green enough that there's no mistaking it for the other one .

Heart WT805 wish you were here

Great challenge, I love using household items! This is dedicated to my DD For today's cling wrap challenge I used 3 colors- 2 plums and a ruby red for my background- and also used the watercolor paper for my die cut sentiment. Stamped image and background cardstock is from my stamping friend Mary Ellen. Finished with a ribbon-heart embellishment propped up on a dimensional and hand stitching. Here's is my card- wish you were here
