Today's challenge is one I found so fun and made a few cards using the very short video. You can make spring cards by adding flowers, leaves, etc. I made a spring and some winter ones. I can't get enough of winter cards. I know a lot of you are sick of them. LOL Just bear with me. I also added an extra bonus to mine which is explained in my posted card.

I have a stash of birch bark in the closet, and I almost dug it out to compare colors but, I was ultimately too lazy to do so as its on a shelf in the back and I would have had to empty a bunch of other stuff to walk to that shelf. (and its a duck in closet, #tallpeopleproblems ) so, I did watch the video and it was just a little bit too abstract for me and my brain decided to do mine a little more real, without being say a copy of real bark. kwim?
Thanks for this Brenda, here is mine WCW096 Birch Trees by JBgreendawn at Splitcoaststampers
I have done many birch/aspen tree paintings in the past and I have done something very similar to this. Never used a credit card though, did doodling for the darker lines. I think I have a card in my gallery done with this technique (sort of). I like the credit card idea.

I have a feeling it would work really well with wide open spaces to drag the card, I am thinking it would be really tight in a small tree trunk? but, the idea does look awesome to me too.
Dear Watercolor Wednesday Hostesses,
You do realize that you are making a LOT of the very expensive stamps and dies I purchased totally unnecessary now . . .LOL I'll be back home later today to paint what looks to be super easy birch trees and make that hard to work with die more or less obsolete!
Love you guys and all the fun (and mostly easy) challenges you give us each week.
Linda

Well - I did get a chance to experiment with this and love the way my birch turned out - the bg not so much BUT no plan going into this one. Next time I will think it thru a bit more. . . .
Great choice of challenge, Brenda. I find I do better with these shorter videos that focus on one small thing. It's probably because I watch the video and get around to trying the technique hours or days later. With a short video, I'm able to retain enough to create something I like.
Here's my card.
