JUN11VSBNK ~ Saturday, June 18, 2011 ~ 6:00 PM EST ~ Feeling a Little Crabby
Title: Feeling a Little Crabby
Hostess: Lura (lurasfaith)
Keyword: JUN11VSBNK
Day/Date: Sat., June 18
Time: 6:00pm (EST)
A few years ago I went with a friend after work to a little restaurant to get a "bucket of trash", a little metal bucket with several different kinds of seafood in it. I had never tried crab legs before, it seemed like so much work for such a small reward, but she cracked the shells for me and I gave it a shot. I HATED IT!!!! Oh my goodness, I thought they truly named this bucket appropriately! She said they weren't very good that night, but she could never talk me into going with her again.;)
Fast forward about 10 years, my DH kept seeing commercials for Joe's Crab Shack on tv and fell in love with the steam pot. While on vacation one year we went to Joe's for his seafood fix. We each got a steam pot and agreed that he would get my crab legs and I would take what I liked out of his. He kept saying he thought I would like the crab legs if I would just try them, but I kept insisting that I would not. Finally, I tried a piece and I loved it! I don't know what the difference was, but I'm pretty hooked now. Needless to say, he didn't get my crab legs! We even bought some at the grocery store and had them again that same week on vacation. They are still a lot of work, but now I think it is worth it!
So in honor of the crab leg, my challenge to you is to retry something you thought you didn't like, a color combo, an embellishment that you liked when you bought it but couldn't seem to make it go with anything, or maybe a tool you paid a fortune for but seems too hard to use. Also, because the meat is hidden inside the shell, there must be something hidden on your page. Maybe journaling or a story with a hidden meaning being told by your photos. Give these things a try because who knows, you may rediscover something that becomes your new favorite!

I know I have an embellishment I bought a while ago that I'm having trouble working on any page so I think I'll use that for this challenge. I won't get to it right now though, maybe during the week. I have five pages here I need to finish up before starting :-)
I FINALLY know what I'm going to use!!! I have some purple DP that always seems so... bold? I've never used it, but I just saw how I can integrate it into this challenge! Yay!
Well...I'll have to think on this one for a bit. Doing all of them digi means a challenge in itself so I'll have to think if there is something in my files that I would like to use but never seem to be able to work it in on the layout (maybe a technique that's hidden but definitely makes some sort of difference on the layout). Now there's a thought...I just might have something....it's good to brainstorm out loud sometimes, kwim?
I just got the last challenge completed so now I'm going to try and upload.
WOW!! This sounds like fun!! I'm almost caught up! I had a little mishap and lets just say, I'm missing half of one my thumb nails! :o/ Yes it is painful, but I am going to continue to get these pages DONE!! I took some tylenol and am going to wait till it kicks in so in the mean time I am going to start uploading the pages I have finished so far!!~

I'm OK! My daughter started crying and my husband was cringing. (I don't see him do that very often!) I stuck a Snoopy bandaid on it and took some tylenol. It only really hurts when the air hits it! :/ Thanks for asking!

Now you gave me an idea! I should try a digi! That would be hard for me!
Well, I think about this, because I am not sure about the hidden meaning thing! I will go have dinner, I have it prepared already, and talk this over with my DH. Maybe he can give me some ideas. Hehee!

I hope you are feeling better. Scrapbooking is dangerous. I don't know how I did but on the last challenge, all of a sudden I had blood on my page. My finger was bleeding all over the place. Apparantly, I must have done it with my teapot punch, and the handle that helps you with the old kind of punches.
My last page is making me "feel crabby". The picts are SO dark and I didn't notice at the time I picked them up or I would have had them reprinted and brightened them :( Guess I'll use dark for now and replace later with reprints.
I'm just cutting some embellishments on my Cricut (you know, that high priced tool that doesn't get used often) LOL

Well, I retried a whole page I couldn't quite make work before. I was never happy with it and like this try so much better.... hope it counts because I am really happy I redid this page
whew ... I was trying to upload before the next challenge was posted but didn't quite make it. FUN Challenge! 2 views of my page so you can see the "hidden" part
Here is First Digi, and I am crabby! I am not cut out to do digi. For one thing it is another thing on a computer. And all things on computers are difficult for me!
I did hidden journaling for first time ever, also! Thanks for the challenge!
Here's my page! I did something for this page that I really don't like doing and even by doing it again, it's still not going to make me want to keep doing it Nice try...but sorry Lura! No go! I'll stick with digi.
The hidden element I used was fussy cutting away all the backgrounds on my pictures to make them look a bit cleaner. Hope that counts! But I did finally use up this paper I bought years ago so that made me happy!

I finished this challenge with moments to spare, but it was really hard. I pulled out my CM XL circle cutter, which I hardly ever use for some reason, and tried to cut a circle for my layout, only to find out the templates were either too big or too small. Ugh! Maybe that's why I never use it. Fortunately, I had two other items in my stash that I had seldom or never used (red embossing powder and some ribbon) so I could still do the challenge, but it was a little frustrating. Anyway, here's my layout:
This was the last one I had to do to complete them all! YAY! This is the first time I have participated in a VSBN (I have done VSN a couple times) and I LOVED getting so many pages in my wedding album done!
Thanks for the great challenge... this one was very useful for me. I bought a pack of paper on line recently and from the samples posted I thought I was going to LOVE it. The sample I saw appeared to have all these great vintage elements and textures.... when I got the paper pack I was dismayed to find out that what I thought were layers of embellishments were actually printed images on the background paper - yuck! I am not a digital girl when it comes to scrapping - I like layers and texture and doing things with my hands. So, I probably would never have used this paper without this challenge, and I am actually pleased with the results. I did tack some real embellishments over the printed ones (shhh!)... I also took the opportunity to use a bunch of embellishments that I have purchased over the yeasr and just never used for one reason or another. All in all a very productive page! Anyway, here's Sweet as Can Be... tfl!
