Default SU! Texture Plates

Hello

Can someone tell me the correct "order" for the SU! Texture Plates in the Big Shot? I have used C.B. Embossing Folders in my Sizzix but I have not used the new SU plates yet and want to try it on a wedding invitation so I need the larger size on the Big Shot.

Any advice...I ordered the plates (crease pad, the silicone pad, texture pad) I need but now it is not impressing so I am doing something wrong!

Thanks for any advice as I know these have to work

If you have a Big Shot, the order is as follows:
(Bottom)
Multipurpose Platform opened to Tab 1 (you received this with your Big Shot)
Texture Plate (texture using face down)
Cardstock
Silicone Rubber
Impressions Pad
(Top)

The crease pad that you ordered is for use with dies that also have creases on the die (i.e. scallop envelope punch). This allows the creases to come out without cutting through the cardstock.

Please let me know if you have any other questions and I hope this helps!

THANKS so much for the help and for the exact directions...do I use the regular clear plastic boards as well or do you NOT use these for the texture plates? I am guessing that the Impression Pad takes the place of the clear plastic but want to make sure

Thanks again!!!

you do not have to use the clear plastic boards. I do however add a piece of regular card stock under the texture plate (between the platform and the texture plate), sometimes even two pieces. I find that this gives me a crisper impression (add a bit more pressure).

I haven't received my texture plates yet - but hopefully this week! Can't wait to play. Shelly thanks to the detailed description. Also - love your blog. I visit 2 or 3 times a month.
This might be helpful also - my demo told me that if you lightly spritz the paper with alcohol you will get a deeper impression.

The diagrams pictured on the Multipurpose Platform will show you exactly what to use and where when building your sandwich.

I have to remind my customers and hostess ladies that these are texture plates so don't get frustrated if they do not look like impressions that you get with embossing plates. Two different things! You can get deeper impressions with the texture plates if you use additional cardstock on top of the sandwich as shims - as lemonbalm mentioned. I would use cheap cardstock for the shim as it does 'flatten it out' and become 'warped'.

Also I can't seem to edit my original post, but the texture that you are using needs to face up (DUH!!! on my part).

You have a roughly five-minute window in which to correct typos or add something you forgot to write the first time around. After that, the button disappears.

I read somewhere that if you lightly spritz your CS with water you get a deeper impression and the paper comes out dry. I tried it and it works. Give it a try.

To get a deeper impression, mist the paper with alcohol rather than water so there are no water spots and it dries quickly. I use one or two of the Spellbinders Wizard tan emboss pads, they seem to work better. I bought a 12 x 12 mat that I cut in half.

Yes, I also would like to know if anyone has used these Texturz plates in the Cuttlebug? I haven't ordered them yet because I'm waiting to hear if they will fit and work in the Cuttlebug. They look so lovely!

I have the cb and used the texturz plates
It was alright.....just okay though
...I am pretty disappointed because I think that the texture is really tootoo subtle.
I *really* wanted embossing.
:( pout

I am looking to get the fiskars embossing tool ...
has anyone used that on the sizzix plates yet?
It seems to be a multi head stylus stump...I may like that better

I will try out my sandwich/shim order again
and post back later...
to make sure I have it right

I do remember that it looked best to me on nice printer paper...
but I will try that again tonite
along with vellum which may be the nicest way if it works...
we'll see!

I have used the SU plates in my cuttlebug & they came out great--the layers I used were: top-next to rollers: B plate, 2 pieces of chipboard (from the package of DSDP-cut the size of the B plate), the black rubber mat, cardstock, texture plate with the desired design face up, and at the bottom the A plate. I understand each cuttlebug may be slightly different so you may only need 1 piece of the chipboard.

I agree about the cheap card stock. I achieved a deeper impression by folding a piece of copy paper in half and adding that! Worked for me!!!

I actually add one more thing to my Big Shot sandwich, a piece of fun foam. I haven't tried the additional piece of card stock. I've been doing this ever since I purchased some of the Sizzix and Fiskars plates.

I used a piece of whitish foam from the CTMH stampsets ...
it gets flattened out after a while but I have a few more ...
maybe i will switch to fun foam...

off to try as soon as my ds is asleep!

Thank you for the CB sandwich recipe! I'm going to order those plates on my next order now.
BTW, how big are they? I mean, do they cover a 4-1/4" X 5-1/2" card front?

They're actually bigger than that! I'm too lazy to go upstairs and measure right now, but I'll look online to find the exact size.

I have the fiskars embossing tool from before SU sold the Big Shot. I did my DD birth announcements with it. It works, but leaves little "scribble" marks on the CS and it takes FOREVER to emboss a whole sheet. My arm cramped up and I ended up skipping that part on most of the announcements because it took so long! I love how they work in the Big Shot, though! I would have bought one just for that project if they would have had them back then!

My friend purchased one of these about a year ago and it was worthless. We could not get it to work very well, it just ripped the card stock.

Thanks again for the info...I now have actually used my plates vs just becoming a collector of another unused item!!!

Now I would be interested in using the CB emb. folders in my Big Shot...anyone have an "order" for that???

I use the Bigkick multipurpose platform Tab 2, then the c'bug folder with paper and then the impressions pad. Works like a charm.

just an FYI...for those of you who purchased your Big Shot a bit of time ago like me... the sandwiches are not provided on the multipurpose platform. the new Big Shots are the one that have the different sandwiches listed (available from SU and stores that carry Big Shot).
hope that helps for those of you looking for it and it's not there! (like me!)

And ideas on how to store them? I have a "lunch box" from Michael's but them are too big to fit in it.

Here is what I have that doesn't work...

http://xtremescrappin.com/index.php?...1bb897bb5f76db

It needs to be slighty longer and taller.

How long ago did you purchase your BS with the MPP?? I have had my BS for 2 +years and my MPP has all the recipes for using the different Sizzix products on it. I love that about the Sizzix family of products. Finding sandwiches for the BS is tough. I printed one out from here on SCS for using brass templates in the CB and it bent the brass template in half and broke the plate for the CB!!!
