I know, right? SO excited about lifting off colors and stamping with alcohol inks!
For those who can’t or don’t want to watch the entire video, you could fast forward to 7:00. The first seven minutes are about the new sizes and new heavy weight Ranger Yupo paper, and why Tim has lost his voice some (was sick).
And for the first time ever? He cleans his stamps. Just for this lift-off and stamp technique. And it works with stencils too.
I shouldn't have started watching that video at bedtime last night (g)! I'd never seen Tim use the alcohol inks before at all, so I learned a bunch of new stuff. I can hardly wait for July 11 to come.
Will this work with clear stamps and is any of this hard on the stamps? Wondering if the stamp pad is alcohol based. I guess that would be another reason to clean them right away. Maybe he mentioned it and I missed it.
I didn't hear him mention either of those things, Maryalena. I looked on the Ranger website and it doesn't say anything about the formulation, but it does say that you can use it with clear stamps.
Fran’s Frantic Stamper also has them on pre-order. I like her a lot, like dealing with an LSS. She had also bent over backwards to rush something that was time sensitive due to an unexpected event.
Beth, thanks for the video. I love what Tim did with those stencils and the Lift-Ink. More fun to be had.

They were out of stock in the Ranger store but are back! Shipping was cheap - $3.50.
Mary Jo, have you played with them yet?
Beth
Got a chance to try it today. Really like the result when the ink is lifted. Almost goofed and started to ink before cleaning my stamp. Do need a good stamp cleaner.

Beth Sorry I meant was going to stamp it a second time. you have to clean the stamp each time. I was using a new stamp and I really like the effect you get.

joggles.com still has their birthday and July 4th sale going on, including Lift-Ink and the re-inker, though Barbara (owner) says she’s limited on the re-inkers. Nice company, fast and cheap shipping, excellent customer service, tons of products - and good how-to videos, with a focus on mixed media but most of all techniques. Not affiliated, just a fan.
Thanks for the info, bjeans. I admit cheap shipping is a big deal for me.
I just checked and the reinker is currently sold out.
Yes, she warned in her email/blog that would probably happen. Ranger was even out for a while, but right now they have reinkers for $3.99. Shipping from Ranger for the ink and reinker was only $3.50, but hasn’t shipped yet (order placed 7/3).
Process looks really cool. I pre-ordered from shop in Gainsville, Florida, Funkie Junkie Boutique.... great service, but still waiting to receive. The pre-orders always take longer. Which is OK...I have plenty of other projects to dig into or complete before I start something new!!!

Wow that is really cool stuff....can you use the Distress Oxide inks with this lift? Or is it just the plain alcohol inks....not sure if there is any differences....I don't have the alcohol inks, just the distress oxides....

It would probably work with alcohol markers, Sharpies, Bic, Copics, etc.

The oxides "lift" with water or a watermark ink.
I don't have the markers either...although I may have some sharpies....I may have to just get those alcohol inks and that alcohol lift pad and try something new...hey Christmas is only a few months away so could put on the "wishlist"! ha;)
I ordered some of the Lift Ink & reinker a few days ago, and it arrived this morning. I just wanted to let people know that it has a strong chemical smell. Hit me as soon as I opened the envelope. Sort of acetone, like nail polish remover. So if that sort of smell is a problem for you, you may want to avoid this ink.
Not actually tried it out yet, but I've opened the pad, and there is a smell from it.
I checked my bottle, and it hadn't leaked in transit, which was my first thought. So, even inside a plastic bottle, and with the inkpad shrink wrapped, the smell still escaped. I know there are a few ladies on here who have problems with strong smells, so just a heads up for you.
Shaz, that’s so odd. I received Lift Ink and a reinker too, have not opened them, and there’s no odor. I wonder if during packing reinker (or alcohol ink) spilled and got on your packaging - or something else weird happened.
Given that they’re made to work with alcohol inks, no big surprise about a strong odor.
I’ll open mine today.

Hi Shaz - I did remove the shrink wrap from around the Lift Ink pad and still no odor - even held up to my nose. Only when I opened it could I smell it, and when closed again, nothing. So a mystery what happened to yours. Now that you threw away the envelope, does the ink pad smell if closed? If so, Id bet dollars to donuts ink was spilled on it at some point.
Of course once opened, it does have a strongish odor. Not as strong as alcohol inks, but certainly apparent and not for the no-odor gals.
Thanks BJeans for sharing the video as had missed it - absolutely love this new technique and will look for the pad and reinker locally. I love alcohol inks and use fairly often.

Shaz, I ordered my Lift Ink pad directly from Ranger. After reading this, I went and removed the cellophane and even before opening the pad, yes, a slight acetone-ish smell. Opened the pad, it was stronger, but I must not be as sensitive to the smell as you perhaps. Not gonna be a problem for me. But just wanted to let you know, the smell is real haha. I don't see how there could NOT be one though, given what its job is. xoxo, Aimeslee
Glad it isn't just me, lol. But I'm thinking that despite it seemingly being closed properly, the bottle must have leaked a little, as it hit me as soon as I opened the envelope.
I have the lift kit but having difficulty getting the images to lift..I am thinking it takes lots of practice or I am not using the correct stamps..let me know if you have any secret tips
