Lightbulb WRMK Envelope Board Punches....

Is there any hope of FIXING my WRMK Envelope Board Punches? I've been noticing they are not punching as well anymore. It just folds over the edge on the corner rounder, & just doesn't cut clean with the other punch. I've tried foil, sandpaper & now The Punch Doctor spray. Anyone have any other ideas to correct this? Or is it time to buy a new one??? THANK YOU in advance for your suggestions! ;)<3

I did a google search and there’s a video on youtube called “Envelope Punch Board Hack” with a sub title about sharpen for a cleaner cut. Maybe that has a suggestion you haven’t tried? I didn’t watch it so I don’t know.

I tried the foil. :( I folded it up just as this woman does too, along with the Sand Paper.) I will add too, that it does help that punch, but there are two punches on the WRMK Envelope Board, & it doesn't work on the corner rounder. THIS is when the punch likes to stick too. WEIRD, I KNOW!

THANK YOU for your response!!!! HUGS! ;)<3

Mine doesn't work as well as it used to, either. I wish I had thought to replace it when Hobby Lobby still had 40% coupons. Too late now, I may have to pay full price for a new one. (GASP!)

SERIOUSLY???? I JUST checked HL Weekly Add Page & I DIDN'T SEE the 40% off Coupon. Are you SURE they aren't offering that anymore? :/ How did you find out? Oh, I am SAD about that! I ALWAYS ENJOYED figuring out what I was going to get 40% off when I went shopping there! I can see that with prices going higher too with all that is going on! I too will have to pay FULL PRICE if I buy a new one, which I PROBABLY will have to do! :(

TLady, yes, I fear it is true. I heard it first from the Frugal Crafter. I'm assuming the craft market has been hit pretty hard by quarantine like most businesses. I had noticed that Michael's didn't have coupons more than 20% several months ago. So I rarely go there. So sad!

Oh, I don't know about the food part....I think I could go without food to buy new stamping supplies lol! There's been many a day I haven't eaten because I don't want to stop what I'm doing! My family, though, would have a different opinion about food, of course.

May I ask how old the boards are? Or more importantly-did you use them a LOT? Have you tried asking WRMK?

Hi Margot!
I didn't get the board when they came out, as they were having the issue of not having the correct measurements on the boards, but I did get it after they straightened that all out. Can't remember how long ago that was, but I do use them often, & have "sharpened" them in the past, but this time it is NOT working! :( I didn't think of asking WRMK, but I WILL! THANKS MARGOT! ;)<3

I think you can punch and score the envelope without rounding the corners. If you have a small corner rounder punch, maybe you could use that to round the corners after. I know it's not an ideal solution, but it might be a work-around until you can get another one.

Hi Scrapjanny!
I have done that with my small corner rounder punch, & it is helping me get through. LOL I also contacted WRMK about my punch board to see if they have another solution. I'll try to remember to let you all know what they say. I also DID order another punch board, it doesn't hurt to have 2, right? (Using the Mini Punch Board doesn't work for a normal size envelope either.) ;)<3

Ok, so I heard from WRMK & here's what she said, after I told her what I'd already done with the foil, & sand paper:

"I was going to suggest using foil and punch about 15-17 times with it and then punch some wax paper a few times."

So, there is no NEW way to sharpen the boards. :( I will KEEP TRYING with my old board, as it is NICE to have a back up! THANK GOODNESS, my new board arrived today.
HOPE this helps if anyone else was wondering! ;)<3

I've had way better luck sharpening dullish punches using aluminum cans rather than foil.
Just cut the top off the can, cut lengthwise and then cut off the bottom. Be careful, cut edges are sharp.
