In my one of my interior design classes I was required by prof to buy 2 sets of Prismacolor markers. They weren't cheap at that time. I have these on hand and would like to use them.
As a new card maker/stamper, I would like to usse them. But not once have I seen them recommended or even discussed.
thank you ahead of time for giving me feedback.

I use them. I actually just made the decision to purchase them over the Copics - for now. I have been comparing them and from my guess Copics offers more colors, you can refill them, the numbering makes it easier to blend, etc. but that comes with a price tag - actually just about double the price tag of Prismacolor.
I think you should use whatever you love and whatever works for you.
There have been several threads regarding these. I use them and love them. Unfortunately, everyone seems to prefer Copics (not me, lol) so they get the thunder here, lol. Do a search and you'll find threads. they are all used the same.
Can anyone tell me the best place to buy them? I used to look at them at Michael's but their prices went up or something because they are not cheaper than Copics at my Michael's store.

I think it has to do with marketing more than anything. Copic seems to be more in-tune with crafters and stampers' needs, and their markers are geared more Animae which naturally lends itself to the "coloring" technique which stampers do. Copic also has a craft design team, so they have that niche in the market.
Prismacolors seems to be geared toward technical designs, graphic design, interior design usage, etc. They don't seem to be focusing on the crafty side of the marker world.
With that said, I still prefer Prismacolors, because I like the laydown and blended look more than Copics.
All my coloring is usually 90% Prismacolor markers, and 10% Copics.
JULIE: I bought my initial set ( 48 ) on eBay, then the rest on Blicks website, when they had a sale for about $1.70 per marker.
Thanks Chrissy, I'll check Blicks when I have time. Michaels does have their 48 set 50% off this week, but I would be shocked if my Michaels has it in their store. The last time I was there they were only selling them individually, and only about 24 different colors.

You're welcome Julie, glad to help!. I just eBayed, and there's a 48ct set for $58 shipped. not sure if that's cheaper than Michael's with a 40% coupon.
Thank you all so much for the quick replies. I want to try Copics, but as I'm just starting in the stamping hobby, I am having to be selective with how I spend my limited resources.
and since I already have the Prisma on hand, I feel like I need to use these up, then add something else to my resources.
Memory Box and Lockhart stamps primarily focus on Prismacolor pencil coloring techniques. I would recommend you check out their websites/blogs/DT blogs for coloring tips.
I was in Michael's the other day and was shocked to see the Prismacolor Pencil 120 piece set for $209.99!!! I purchased my set many years ago from Viking Office Supply for under $50!

I just called my local Michael's and they did have them. I had to tell the employee on the phone where to find them. In our store, they are in the front locked up where the cricut cartridges are. They do not have them where the individual markers and pencils are. HTH

Thanks, I'll be going to Michael's tomorrow for something anyway, so I plan to check when I'm there. In the past I've found the empty boxes for Prisma Pencils and markers in the art supplies section, and you have to ask an employee to get a set from the back. Last time I was there a few months ago, I didn't see any marker sets being sold at all.

I don't have any Copics. But, I do have a handful of Prismacolor markers and I use them in combination with the Bic Mark-Its and layer Prismacolor colored pencils on top to shade when I don't have the colors in the markers. I'm equal opportunity if they do what I need them to and are the right price! :>
