So I think Im ready to take the plunge and order, a set of nesties. I have never seen them in person ... not sure what set to start with. should I get large or small? what set(s) did you all order first? and which ones do you use most often?
I am using the new labels two alot right now, but the one i use the most is probably the circles. You will find like I did, that once you buy a set you will want them all. I just discovered nesties back in October and now have 15 sets.
I would get circles, since those are hard to cut out yourself. If you're only going to get one set, I would get the large circles.
But if you're going to get more, I would also get the matching scallop set for the large circles or the set of 4 which have both the large and small sets of each.
I have the scalloped circle and oval (Large). I use them a lot. I don't think I would buy the small sized ones because the smallest die in these "large" sets are pretty tiny to me. I think I'll get the labels next. Ritz Camera's 20% off sale is ending after December, so you should take a quick look at what they have and see if there are any sets you might like.

I see the large vs small question a lot...and it is confusing how nesties are sized:
If you take any given shape with scallops, there are 4 sets:
Large Plain
Large Scallop
Small Plain
Small Scallop
The largest of the large set is only 1/4" larger than the largest of the small set. Likewise the smallest of the large set is only 1/4" larger than the smallest of the small set. Each die within a set is graduated at 1/2" so with both sets you would have every increment of 1/4".
So...choosing between large and small really doesn't matter at all, unless you use a lot of tiny images, then you might like the smallest die to be as small as possible.
Circles and Ovals also have Petite Scallops, which refers to the size of the scallop only. Petite plain ovals are more elongated, and in fact are larger than the classic ovals, and are made to mat with the Petite Scalloped Ovals.
So...which to get first...I would buy entire sets starting with the shape you use most...and in general, I use Circles and Rectangles most.
There is a ton more info with photos explaining all of this if you go to Papertreyink.com and scroll down and click on Nicole's Blog...then search for Nestabilities. Sorry...I am off to bed, or I would find the link for you.

Nesties really are amazing! It depends on what kinds of stamps you like to use, because there are so many shapes and sizes. Do you have a machine to use them in already?
Cher, thanks for explaining the difference between the large and small sizes. Was unable to find an explantion on the sizes. You made it clear. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction for more information as well.
Frou frou....which set of Nesties are you drawn to? What is the right choice for one person might not work for another, depending on your style.
I have the oval scalloped set. Hoping to add more to the collection one day.
I have complete sets of ovals and circles, plain and scalloped(petite scallops). I like having both sizes of them because I can really get some nice layering going on by using components from both sizes.
My next one will be Labels.. probably 1. I just love the shape....
at some point I MAY get the regular scallops as well.
and while the smallest dies are pretty teeny, I have been known to use up scraps this way as backgrounds for a dewdrop or button or pearl....
I kept telling myself I would NOT buy Nesties since I hae various cutters (punches and Culuzzle) BUT I CAVED!
All I have so far are the scallops of circles, squares and rectangles. I also have Label One (love it). I have not yet invested in the plain circles, squares or rectangles since I have been able to make due with my Coluzzle and paper trimmer but give it time.
Once you invest in one set they are hard to resist since they are so versatile.

thanks for all the useful info!! I tend to be drawn to scalloped everything, it seems pretty much the way to go is the scalloped circle. I didnt realize the sizes were so close, the large will probably be most utilized and Im sure you are right that once I get them I will be "hooked". I have the cuttlebug, and have done a little research to make sure I know what Im doing, so Im off to order!! Merry after Christmas to me!!!

Whatever you purchase, you will not be disappointed! You'll want more after the first set! I also have the pads to help with the embossing while cutting your dies too. Might be something extra you'll want to consider too.
I just ordered my first two sets!! I decided to go with the large scalloped circles and the long scalloped retangles I REALLY want the lables 1 but everyone seems to be sold out. I ordered from ac moore online they are on sale for 17.67 and free shipping on orders of 35.00 or more, so a pretty good deal. they did have the complete sets and I might kick myself for not ordering it (around55.00) but I want to play with them before going wild. I hope they have speedy delivery, I cant wait!!! do other embossing pads work? or do I have to have the one from wizard? does anyone know??
