Question What ink color do you use for inking edges?

I was wondering what is your go to color for inking edges? If your scrapbook page is pastel in nature do you use the same color. My go to right now is Tim Holtz Vintage Photo but working on a pastel one. Trying to figure out should I keep with my go to. I have a bunch of Colorbox, chalks, Stampin up stamps, and more. Thoughts??? Thanks Sheila

I know...6-year hiatus and I have a lot of questions.

I don't scrapbook but I do often ink the edges of my layers in cards. I know what you mean about VIntage Photo, it's kind of a classic. But if my layer was blue, or green, I'd go for a darker shade of the same colour.

When I started out, it was mostly the ColorBox catseyes, I had, but now when I go to use them I find that the foam has crumbled, and a lot of them just go straight in the bin.

I, also, normally use a darker shade of whatever color I'm using on my card.

I no longer ink the edges of my cards as I start out with a white card base and prefer a clean edge look. There are a few times when I ink the layers of my cardstock/ designer paper and I choose a darker neutral warm or cool colour depending on the predominant colour in my project.

I ink the edges of my layers on cards sometimes. I ink on all my scrapbook pages. I use the quick quotes ink. They have great colors. I use whatever color is in the project.

I do whatever I think will March best. If it’s a vintage Or shabby card I use a brown. But for baby, clean and simple or elegant cards I tend to use a slightly darker version of the paper colour.

I just saw this idea on a papercrafting video that I'd never thought of .... to get just a hint of a shaded edge around lighter cardstock layers, use a Versamark pad directly on the edge and you'll get a tone-on-tone shade to give the edge a finished look and make it stand out a bit.

That's a great idea Rita! I never thought of it even though we know we can use versamark for darker watermarks for BGs and stuff. Cool! Thanks!

I'd have to say depends. I dont do that a lot but....if I was aging it I would use the distress inks. If I was doing regular colors I agree, I would just go darker.

Quick Quotes' site calls their ink "chalking ink." Is it chalk? Or what is chalking? Thanks.

I use Sahara Sand ink to sponge the edges if I want a vintage look.

I have a couple dozen shades of Tsukineko / Imagine Crafts Versa Magic Chalk Ink Dew Drops that I've used for the last few years. They are small like the Color Box cat eyes that I used at first, specifically Chestnut Roan shade. I love the Versa Magics because they are juicier and have a sponge that is sturdier - I lost count how many of my cat eye sponges eventually fell off and the company's only remedy was to tell us, glue it back on. I usually use a darker shade that matches my card front, a color I'd use as a mat underneath what I'm ink-edging. Just depends on the card. XOX
