I just bought a lawn fawn rectangle die and it doesn't cut all the way through (might be defective) - does anyone have a good recommendation for one that has worked well for you? Thanks
I have stitched dies from several companies including Lawn Fawn. Sometimes almost all the brands need to have a shim added or to use a metal adapter, especially if you're using heavy card stock. Usually a lighter weight card stock cuts better with the wafer thin dies than heavy card stock. Some of the companies that I have stitched dies from are: Lawn Fawn, My Favorite Things [I have lots of their dies], Honey Bee Stamps, Waffle Flower and Lil' Inker.
I have dies from SU! and My Favorite Things and never had a problem, so I can confidently recommend those two companies.
I find that I sometimes need to run dies through in a different direction to get better cuts. For instance, instead of laying a rectangle horizontal, I might place it vertical. Another thing I find helpful is to place a dryer sheet between my bottom cutting plate and cardstock.

Some dies with 'stitched' design are not intended to cut through paper but to add a indentation of a pattern. which you can do with any die by using a rubber sheet under the paper that the die is on top of the paper
I've been looking for a stitched rectangle layering set, but a surprising number of them aren't 'card size' for me. I make 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 so I wanted to have the largest rectangle that size, and it took a bit of searching to find one. I bought a set from Heffy Doodle and love it. If you check them out be sure to note if you're getting the right ones (imperial vs metric) for your card sizes.

Have you tried putting the die through on an angle so that a corner, not a straight edge, goes through first? Some machines struggle to cut a horizontal line evenly, so putting the die through at an angle makes it easier for the machine.

Not sure which set of dies you have, but I have the Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle dies in both sizes and they are my absolute favorites. If one is defective I would try to write to them, they may replace it.
