Blitsy has a You Tube video on it and you can get deals on it all the time over there.
Looked that up on Amazon and watched the video so interesting. Since it's silicone on both sides how do you slide your ink blending tool on it? Or paper through inks to do techniques? Those are two things I use the Tim Holtz craft mat for all the time, and if this works the same way I would get it immediately!

I bought a nonstick oven mat at Walmart a year or so ago, been using it ever since. I did have to tape it onto my desk to keep it in place, but it worked awesome for me- no problems with water soaking through and I do quite a bit of watercoloring and the like. I finally had to replace it recently as it had some holes worn in it by now... I personally don't like spending more money on stuff like that than I have to ;) so I found a flexible plastic pastry board at Walmart- was gonna get another oven mat but decided to try this instead as I figured it might be a bit more durable. It's not nonstick but I think it'll serve the purpose...as long as I don't get too much hot glue on it , plus it's a bit cheaper than an actual 'craft mat'- I think it was maybe about $10- $11. Just my thoughts!

I use my old self healing cutting board that was used for quilting purposes. I love that it has grid marks on it, cleans up nicely and has a little give to stamp on. I don't have to worry about sharp tools when working on it. It's about the size of S U grid paper.

I just bought the WRMK glass cutting mat. I am REALLY impressed with it because the grid lines on it are underneath, so they don't scratch. Now if *ONLY* the design had CM/IN measurements on one side plus perpendicular, opposed to parallel, I'd be one happy camper. This way I could line up the item in the corner to measure up and across. Rotate the glass mat 180 degrees and it'd be cm up and across.

That is what I use it for. Love this stuff. It's quite thick also, and comes in a huge roll. I found it at KMart. or Walmart also.

My desktop is covered with a large Martha Stewart self-healing mat so I always have a ready cutting surface. When I work with messy techniques I use a Wilton fondant mat instead of a silicone mat for crafting. It doesn't slip around, I can use both sides, and I bought it at Michael's with a coupon. I replaced my Ranger mat for the Wilton mat and have no regrets. Another plus is that it's a horrid neon pink so I never loose it on my messy desk

@Annecards And of course anyone else with suggestions LOL

Which glass mat do you have?
I have been thinking about the We R Memory keepers one. I think I might want the graph lines...

I also thought about having one cut at the glass shop...tempered of course and beveled, but it would not have the graph lines.

Thought about being able to print different size graph lines, (and switch out the paper) and put them underneath a clear glass mat to use.

Would love opinions!
Thank you,
Sherri L

Wonder how much the glass shop would charge for one. I like the idea of being able to put my own graph paper under it. There are times I want a fine grid at 1/4 or 1/8 marked, and other times nothing more than 1/2 is needed or wanted. What a great idea. Thanks for sharing this.

Not sure of cost since it depends on thickness and size. I'm calling a place or two tomorrow and ask. Ill post back what I'm told for my area.
Trying to decide what size. Not more than 14x14, but not smaller than 10x10 LOL

I'll have them put those tiny clear round pads on the corners to raise it a tad and to keep it from sliding.

I also use glossy ceramic tile squares from home depot for a lot of things. They are really cheap and I like to mix paint and mediums on them...I put sticky back felt pads under them.

Oh, the things we do to enjoy our art and crafts! LOL

I have the Ken Oliver Best Craft Mat Ever and the brown non-stick craft mat. One thing I really like about the Ken Oliver one is that it is very grippy. You can put a piece of cardstock on it and when you glue your layer on top the mat will hold the bottom CS in place so you can move the top layer for proper placement. I use Tombow liquid glue so this mat really helps with holding the bottom layer while I "wiggle" the top layer into place.

One thing I don't like about the mat is that things really stick to it - especially cat hair (I have 3 cats so lots of hair floating around). You can't just brush it off either. If you wipe it with a wet cloth you need to use one that won't grip it. I found some cloths kind of stick to it making it difficult to wipe. Once you find the right type of cloth its easier to clean.

Hi Sherri, I use the We R glass mat. I prefer the light blue grid, because it works best for me when I'm mixing colors on it. It's just personal choice, there're other brands.

Things sticking to it would be a deal breaker for me. The mat from scorpal perfect, nothing sticks and it is identical to Ken Oliver's other than that. I use my glass mat 99% of the time, so keep the scorpal one on my other desk. I'm not sure if Scorpal still sells them? I've checked and don't see them, maybe it was another company.

Reviving an old thread here. Just wondering if you still use the same work surfaces or if you have discovered something else new. Or a new use for an old thing

Did the intro of the new mat by TH turn into a game changer for anyone?

I would be more than happy to tell you, but haven't received mine yet; ordered in January from a very reputable source (Rusty at Oozak). Otherwise I would have cancelled my order by now. After 3+ months, I think I have been patient, but it's beginning to wear thin.

I have been wondering about the Tonic Easy Clean Mat. Does anyone have an opinion about it? I’m wondering if its as “grippy” as the Ken Oliver one. I am still looking for something that is easier to wipe off but still sticks to my table.

Stacy at Scrapbooking made simple has exactly that...like the TH on top but a non slip surface underneath so it stays in place.

I don't have it, I like my glass mat lol, and her stuff takes too long to get to me most of the time...I am more impatient.

It is $18.00 and 12x21"

I have the TH glass media mat and I really like it. I can’t say that it is better than other glass mats since I’ve not worked on glass before. I haven’t really gotten into all the side mat features yet with the color mixing area but for those who do that sort of thing I can see the advantages. I like that it’s big, easy to clean, doesn’t shift around and has easy to read measurements. I’m really looking forward to getting the companion sliding T-ruler that will be shipped sometime in May. The media mat plus my TH travel platform are now my most appreciated tools.
