I love my growing collection of A2 embossing folders. I bought some in sets that came with smaller (2x2) embossing folders. The thing is, I can't quite figure out how best to use them on cards or layouts. I know that sounds dumb and very uncreative, but I feel like such a small embossing element will get lost on a card or layout. Because of the size of the folder, you're limited on what you can do with it (i.e. you can't really emboss the center of a circle because the folder doesn't have enough "reach").
Does anyone have an examples using the smaller folders?
I thought I'd see what kind of inspiration I found before I tried selling them on FSOT.
I have a few too and have no real idea how to use them. I have done a few tags with mine and embossed a piece to use on a card. I know there have to be other ideas out there! Come on ladies, share!!
I've used them on envelope flaps, and it turns out real cute..

I've cut small peices of card stock and then emboss them. These can be chalked or decorated in some other way. Then place these on the card as embellishments.
I either cut them apart to use as a focal point on my card or use them to create medallion embellisments. Here's an example of one I used on a card quite a while ago:
Oh - I bought the Cuttlebug winter set and I really like it. I guess it depends on the style of card you make, but a single one makes a great focal point on a simple card. I'll just go and find a couple of cards I made with them... LSC239 SOS Snowmen by Cook22 at Splitcoaststampers
I know the sets you mean - some of the little folders in those sets look quite useful to me. Which ones do you have?
Hi,
have you thought of using them on gift tags? Or making them the focus piece on the card?
I have made sets of gift tags and then used a score pal box and given them as gifts.... great way to use up scrap bits of paper.
Thanks for all of the ideas! I like the idea of cutting them apart to use them. Unfortunately my work blocks images on blogs, so I'll have to go back and read it again tonight.
I have embossed them and cut them out with Spellbinders nesties..they can make a very elegant card. I wish I had taken pictures for my gallery..guess I will get them out and make more cards...lol

I have them mostly from the Sizzix sets -- so I have a little bird and a flower and butterfly and some Christmas images, and a couple of others that I can't think of right now.
Thanks for the blog posts and suggestions everyone!
I love my little folders and use them for all sorts of ocassions, the formal squares make a very elegant wedding card. I didn't realize that I haven't uploaded any to my gallery except for this birthday one but you will get the idea. Trio of presents by misha at Splitcoaststampers
Hi Ive got a few cuttlebug sall foldes and have used them on corner of card and then on the envelope flap to match Hope you find this helpful. I'll be looking at other members ideas. Thanks for bringing up this Q is good to see what other people create Lilianx
I never thought of using them as an "inchie" type of format grouping, but it makes perfect sense, now that I see all these. Thanks for all your creative ideas- I'm also one that has had these in my stash with no ideas for them...
These samples are gorgeous! I have a question, however. I was gifted a few of these small embossing folders as well and used them on a 3x3 gift card. However, I noticed that the shape of the folder was also slightly evident (there was a faint indentation). How were you able to do three without any such indentation? Might I be using my folder incorrectly?
Good info from everyone. Thank you misha and SophiaLaFontaine for showing your cards. Great idea for 2 wedding & 4 50th anniversary cards I need this summer.
I use the ones with words/phrases, emboss small rectangles or squares, then either cut them out or use my Nesties...but I now see so many other possibilities! Thanks so much for sharing.
Kathleen, were you able to make your cards without cutting the embossing folders apart?
I haven't cut any of my folders, aS the design in these cards is along the lower or side edge. I find the centre of the edge and emboss the middle one first then I go back and do another one either side of the first. Does that make sense.
As to the mark left by the edges of the folder you need to make your sandwich stach for your machine, big shot, CB slightly less. I have a Bog Shot, the older one without the multi platform. So for me my stack is the white platform , the folder with the card inside, some folded printer papers stacked and then the acrylic catting plate. This is prefect for my machine and does not leave any marks yet still embosses deeply. I also use this stck for my CB embossing folder borders.
I hope this explains clearly enough, if not please let me know.

Thank you so much!! After I posted the question I went to the couple of blogs folks were suggesting and found they adjust the sandwich as well. I'll have to give it a try.
OK, so I see they haven't worked out the bugs on the attachments yet...
Let's try again... Here's the card I used the small embossing folder on:
Gorgeous card! Thanks for the inspiration to get mine out and go to it!

I know there have probably been many tutorials on this but I haven't found one.
How do you emboss the same pattern multiple times on the same cardstock? Looking at the card you've posted here is the exact thing I'd like to do but don't know how to get the same gorgeous effect trying to run the thing through multiple times.
