Hello out there in craft land, was wondering if anyone had tried to Re ink their watermak pen with a versamark reinker for the stamp pads. Thought I should at least ask before I went ahead and destroyed my beloved pen (relatively expensive here in oz and hard to obtain).
The original poster said in OZ versamark pens are relatively expensive that was her reason for asking. I realize here in the states the pens are cheap they don't appear to be cheap or easy to obtain in OZ or the region of OZ she lives in.
I wish I could give the original poster an answer but I also live in the states where for less then 4.00 we can buy a replacement pen (actually a pack of 2-I think). When one of mine dries out I just buy another. I own more then 1 brand of watermark pen though so maybe you can get the Ranger Perfect medium pen cheaper in OZ I also purchased these in a 2 pack several years back.. Since the versamark pen you have is dried up or used up maybe you can try removing the nib with priers and seeing if you can add a few drops a refill. You have nothing to lose in my opinion. I have not tried this with versamark but I have done this with quite a few markers (that were not refillable) using a substance called perfect ink refresher made by ranger- I can only do this when the ink is dried up not when it is used up.
I have a versamarker that I have had for years and it's pretty dried up now so I just take my versa mark re-inker and add a dab to the tip of the pen when I want to use it. It works like a charm and I didn't have to pull the pen apart ;)
Thank you so much for the replies. I will try the re-inker. The pens are hard to find in Australia and relatively expensive, due to import costs etc. I know I could try a online shop but I prefer to support my local craft shop.
Many thanks again I will give it a go with confidence...
What I do with mine is pour a little reinker into a small well and prop my pen up in it so that just the tip is in the fluid and then just leave it for a couple of hours. It seems to soak up some of the fluid and then it works great again for some time. HTH Joan
Hi, ert. I don't know if this is possible but I will be in Sydney the second week of May. Wondering if I could bring some new pens for you. I don't know exactly how to connect with you - pens are pretty small and easy to pack.
Hi Deanna
the offer of the pens is very thoughtful of you, thank you. I have been busy re inking my versa mark pen and have had so far a wonderful result (a big thank you to those who have tried and tested before me). I hope your trip to Australia is a wonderful one and the weather is kind to you. If you haven't been before, May can be a little on the chilly side so do bring a jacket and a jumper, sorry (pullover? sweater?). If you go on to Melbourne make sure you pack something warm, it is even colder there.
If you should change your mind, I could leave a package for you at the hotel desk. Thank you for the weather tips because I will be in Melbourne first visiting with my son and this is his first winter. If you think of anything else I should know about visiting your beautiful country (from what I have seen in pictures and heard from others), let me know. Hope your day is a good one.
Deanna, I hope you have a fabulous trip! And what a sweet offer you made. SCS is wonderful for many reasons, not the least of which is people like you!
