Upgrading to the new Scor-Pal?
iWell, first there was Scor-Pal and then Scor-Buddy . . . along comes the MS Scoring Board and NOW the new & improved Scor-Pal!!!
I love my Scor-Pal and use it all the time but it is a little frustrating to not have more increments. . . so they've read my mind!
I'm pretty sure I'll purchase the "upgrade" but not sure I would spring for the Scor-Buddy, too, since I don't work away from home that much.
Could there possibly be any more improvements made to the original now?! If I'm getting it, I don't want to replace it again in a few years, LOL!!
What do you think? If you've managed to get by with the older one for years, will you still buy the new Scor-Pal?
decisions.... decisions....

Well, since I "happen to know" that the Buddy version will be under the tree this year, I think I'll be able to stick with my original full-size Scor-Pal for a while now since the Buddy has extra score lines. Love my Scor-Pal.

I don't think I'll be upgrading - not for a while. Yes, it would make things a bit easier, but for me I have other things I'd rather spend money on first. Now, if someone gave it to me I'd be delighted!

Hmm...very interesting!! I should check out the Buddy even more thoroughly. I was just interested in its small size.
I guess it also depends on if you do a lot of 3D projects which I haven't - yet ;^).

BTW, I saw something about MS having a sharper scoring tool. I use my embossing stylus for a more define score line and it works great!

I have the original and use it each time I make a card. The buddy is on my Christmas wish list but if Santa forgets to bring it I will buy one after the holidays. It will be so much easier to use and leave on my table since it is smaller. Since I don't use my Scor Pal to make other types of projects very often I don't plan to upgrade the Scor Pal at this time. I just want the buddy.

I am sticking with the original. I would rather spend the money on other things.

I have the new Buddy, and I don't see a need for the larger one. I LOVE the Buddy, and it stores so easily!

I have the original and want the Buddy because of the size. I don't think I'll upgrade. I don't think I need all those extra measurements enough to make it worth it.

A Very Merry Christmas Indeed!

Consider me delighted! I rec'd a PM last night from Diana Crick, asking if I had the new Scor-Pal. I replied that I had the original one.
I rec'd another PM shortly after that, with Diana saying I had been selected to receive the new Scor-Pal as a Christmas gift from the company. WOW! I didn't know what to say, except a huge "Thank you!"
My Scor-Pal is one of my go-to tools - I use it for every card. Can't wait to receive the new one, and want to give a shout-out to Scor-Pal for making my Christmas a very merry one indeed!

Even with the offer of 25% to get a new one, I already have the first one and the second...I will have to pass on buying another in hopes that it does not change again!
Got the MS score board and love it!

I have them all, use them all, love them all! Like others have mentioned, the Buddy is great on the work table. Martha was on sale BF for $12, so really couldn't resist. Love the increments. So I probably will not be getting the new Scor-Pal version- at least not now.

I would like to see a score buddy in the centimeters. I will probably look into it, because my friend doesn't have one so I could give her my older score pal.

I have the original Scor-Pal. I have used the MS one, but find it hard to find the right groove to put the tool into. But I Love the directions on making evelopes that comes with it, so I will possibly buy it, with a coupon at Michaels of course. I see videos online with a lady that always uses her bone folder in the slot of a 12" narrow Fiskars cutter, and never had seen that done, also moving the paper over a 1/2 or 1/4 inch to get the right increment on the Scor-pal is not hard, so I don't need the new one.

I don't have any of them - but I have been coveting the Scor-Buddy! Currently I have the Scor-It, but wish I had gotten the Scor-Pal instead. Since I have limited space and a very limited budget, I think I will save my pennies for the Scor-Buddy in the future.
I make cards to send to our brave troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and I'm sure using the Buddy would be a great time saver!
Thanks for all your input! I'm so glad to be a part of this wonderful community that helps and supports eachother!
Happy New Year, everyone!

The new improved Scor-Pal is a have to have. I have it and it is great, it is used on every card I make. I haven't tried the Scor-Pal Envelope Instructions yet that comes with the Scor-Pal. It worked great for making sixteen little drawer chest for presents. I also have the orginal with the mat and Scor-Buddy.
Thanks, Diana, for creating your Scor-Pal products.

I have and love the original and the Buddy so don't plan to buy the new one since I'm on a "no more crafty stuff" diet right now. I'll use what I have. The company's special offer is appreciated though!

YES!
I just found out about this and I have placed my order. I've always been bugged that there weren't more quarter-inch lines on the Scor-Pal. I don't have the mini version and won't get that, either. Thanks everyone for getting the word out!:p

I had a Scor-Pal and it broke when I ran over it!!! I didn't have another $40 so when Micheal's had coupons that you could use on Martha Stewart I bought her version for just at $12 and I love it. It is so nice to have the all the 1/8" increments across the bed. I use it so much more than I ever did the Scor-Pal.

So far, I use the cutting guide on my paper cutter to score, but I was thinking about getting the MS one. After reading this thread, I might spring out a coupon and get it.

I have two original scor-pals (with mats), because my daughters loved it so much THEY needed one on ther side of the desk. Then, I got the scor-buddy because it's SO cute and I wanted to be able to have a portable one if I needed it. Now my girls want one of those, too. heehee I just ordered the new Scorpal a couple days ago. There is an awesome sale going on right now for the Scorpal. Not only is it priced at $29.95 now, but you can also use the code SCS10 for 10% off. Shipping is free for orders of $40 or more, so if you add the mat or a couple other small things, you can get free shipping.
I've tried out the Martha Stewart score board, but the lines are TOO close together. It's easy to jump a track. Also, when I am working with templates, I line up the area I am trying to score using the lines in the board, and with the Scorpal, the lines are easy to follow. When you have a zillion lines it's hard to tell where it is. I am all for saving money, but the most important factor for me, if that the product is easy to use, with professional results. That is why I chose Scor-Pal.

Sigh - I LOVE my Scor-Pals. I bought the Buddy this year and take it will me to classes. The only thing is that it is small and if you have a larger piece it isn't big enough. Now that brings me to the NEW Scor-Pal. When I saw the ad for it I immediately wanted it - but I do have the original one. I am in a dilemma. I used it for my husband's Christmas card to make 1/2" score lines (you can see the entire story and my card on my blog). Sigh - I want the new one! But there is $$. I've gone through the MS and Scor-It and am tremendously happy with the Pal.

Interesting thread. I have the original Scor-Pal with mat. I love it, but found an MS scoreboard on sale at Michaels a few months ago. I don't have the problem mentioned about finding and staying in the correct grove. I made 30 tealight candle holder boxes for Xmas presents and because of so many 1/8 scores, it was a lifesaver. I've put my Scor-Pal mat atop it. The last measurement on the MS board is 12 1/2 vertically and horizontally. I love the storage spot for the bone folder. And yes, it does make for a crisper score. With the added envie maker feature, this has become my go to scoreboard. I do also own a small Scor-it for taking on the road.

Interesting thread! It was great to read what everyone said. I have the MS score board & then I bought the Scor-buddy. After using the Scor-buddy, I stopped using the MS board as I get perfect scores everytime with the Scor-buddy. I have been considering buying a Scor-pal and the mat, so perhaps it's time to do so ;)

I had the original Scor-pal and when I saw the new one I bought it - I am so glad i did - I love it even more than the original. I gave my original to a friend. The surface on the new one seems different and my cardstock seems to stay put better on the new one.

Seeing as I paid $40.00 for the original Scor-Pal last year, I sure can't justify ordering the Scor-Buddy, although I do love the idea of a smaller one and I use it primarily for cards. Wish I would have known about all the changes in store (new Scor-Pal and Scor-Buddy) I think I would have waited. I do Love the score tape they have!

Wow--all those posts and only one other person has the Scor It. And she didn't like it! I used both the Scor Pal and the Scor It several times before I made up my mind and went with the Scor It Board. It just seemed more practical. I'll never have the problem of needing more lines--I can score anywhere on my paper. And I really had a hard time keeping the scoring tool in the groove on the Scor Pal. In other words, no I won't be getting the new one.

That's very nice Diane!
More especially since an entire order would be discounted 25%!
Already owning/loving/recommending highly!! the current Scor-Pal
Having recently purchased the scor-buddy I too am holding off.
How long is your offer for current owners going to last you think?
Thanks & Happy New Year.
