Is the Stampin Up Table Top Cutter worth getting? It is the one with the "arm cutter" Or is a good Fiskars trimmer just as good? I would be using it for making cards mostly. Thanks! Christy

I have both the "one arm" cutter and the fiskar trimmer and use them for different reasons. For large cuts or multiple cuts, I use the one arm, and for quick cuts, I use the trimmer.
I waited until I had a coupon before I purchased either one so I never felt like I was stuck with it if I didn't like it.
I have two cutters, a Fiskars trimmer (and scorer) and a Fiskas mini guillotine. Is a guillotine what you call an 'arm cutter'? Anyway I use both too. I use the guillotine for card that is A5 or smaller and the trimmer for A4 or smaller. Both are really useful. I find a trimmer slightly easier to use for more acurate cutting but the guillotine is small enough to sit on my desk when not in use, and is very convenient when cutting small panels.

If you are considering the SU table top cutter remember it is made by Tonic. I would do a search to find out if you can buy one cheaper. I think JoAnn carries it on line so you could use a coupon. (there may be other locations where you can use a coupon)
I have the 12 x 12 tonic, and I love it. The stampin up one is a little small for me, plus you can get the tonic with a coupon. Think I got mine from Joann's online.
It is the best cutter I've ever used!!!! Love mine. Would never use anything else. I used to get fuzzy edges on my Whisper White cardstock all the time with my Fiskar's. No more with the SU! cutter. Plus, you can cut more that one piece at a time.
I have the Tonic version of SU's cutter. I like everything about it except it's color! The rulers/measurements on it are very hard to read. If I were to buy one now, I'd get the SU one. I've always been nearsighted and I'm willing to pay extra for better visibility with anything.
Have you tried running a piece of chalk, in a color you can see clearly, across the measuring guide? The markings are indented so the chalk stay in the indentation. I have done this with a paper cutter that had the numbers and hatch(?) marks on clear acrylic. Just run the colored chalk across the guide and wipe away the chalk left on the raise surface.
I was putting off getting that cutter for so long. Last night I almost threw the fiskars trimmer out the window. I can't ever get a straight line and the paper always has fuzzies where it was cut. My husbnd saw my frustration and told me to just order the new cutter. I got the smaller one. 12X6 because I don't have desk space for the big one. I got it from Amazon. I can't wait for it to get here!
I did run a marker over the measurements and wiped off the excess and it helped a bit. I don't know what they were thinking when they designed that part of it!
