Thanks for that. I am unsure now whether or not to buy them as I do use a lot of cards that I buy in packs with matching envelopes and they are mostly 10.5cm x 15cm. Still, maybe it would mean I would only have to trim one side of the matts?

I just went and did the conversion ... the exact measurements of a "US"-sized A2 card are 4.25" (10.795 cm) x 5.5" (13.97 cm) ... Too bad that "standard" sizes aren't universal!! Sheesh!

I have a Movers and Shapers card die which cuts the US size A2 and so I just bit the bullet and ordered a heap of the correct envies from scrapbook.com, lol. Aussie Post classes them as a standard 60c letter size as the next bump in price comes when the width is greater than 12cm and A2 cards in their envies are under that.

Jan R, I have to admit to smiling with the Spellbinders description of A2 size dies. Here in the UK A2 means card about 23.5 x 16.5 inches approx. Can you imagine the size of a machine needed to cut that, let alone the cost of the dies!

Yes, our A2 here in Australia is that large size two. What we call A2 is twice the size of a piece of A4 copy paper! LOL.

I was at Hobby Lobby yesterday and they had a bunch of nestabilities marked way down. I got 10 diff. ones and paid as little as $3.47 to $7.47 most all were in the $5 range. OH my gosh..............check this out. I am really a novice at nesties. I did not even have a multipurpose platform handy to try them out in my vintaj machine, but had some thick card stock so just kept adding sheets to make the necessary shim. It works perfect and I am having a blast.

Default Replacing Lost Spellbinder Nestabilities

Hi,

I'm new to the Splitcoaststampers family and am not sure if this is the right place to address this issue. I've recently lost (misplaced!!!) the 1-1/8" circle (#2 die) of my Spellbinders Nestabilities Standard Circles Small S4-116 set. I talked to Spellbinders who informed me they don't sell replacements for dies sold in a set. Is there anyone or anyplace you are aware of where I could purchase this one little die? I really don't want to purchase the whole set again.

Thank you!

Hi, I hope someone here can help me with a Grand Calibur - Sizzix Embosslits compatibility question.

I own a Sizzix Embosslits "Beautiful Wings" folder that cuts and embosses the butterflies designs in one pass. I had used this cut/emboss folder in my Spellbinders Wizard and it worked great.

I now have a Spellbinder's Grand Calibur, and after running the same Embosslits folder through it just a few times I realize the pressure is obviously too much.

The plastic hinges and covering has broken and the metal cutting edges inside the folder have shifted so that the cut edges on one plate no longer fit within the recessed shapes of the other plate. The result is that the die no longer cuts out the butterflies completely.

I know I probably will have to replace the Embosslits die, but first I really need to know if there is a "SAFE" way to use it in my Grand Calibur without ruining the new die.

Thanks,

What sandwich are you using? I copied/pasted this from the Spellbinders FAQ:

How do I use Sizzlits or Cuttlebug dies in my Spellbinders Grand Calibur Machine?

With the Grand Raspberry Plate on the bottom, place the die cut side facing up. Add the media on top of the die, with the desired pattern facing down. Cover with the C Cutting Plate and insert into the front of the Spellbinders Grand Calibur Machine. Turn the handle and the sandwich exits at the back of the machine.

HTH!!

Thank you for your reply.

I did check out Spellbinder's FAQs but didn't see a "recipe" for a Sizzix Embosslits folder, just the regular dies.

I've sent the same question to Spellbinder's, but I've not gotten an answer back yet.

I was hoping someone else has tried using these folders in the Grand Calibur with more success than I've had.

Hi Debbie,

I did try the Raspberry plate with the embosslit folder, and IT WORKED!!!

I do have to run it through the machine twice sometimes depending on the card stock I'm using, probably because of the prior damage I've caused to the metal cutting edges inside it, but that's OK because it still works.

Now I don't have to replace this folder, I can get something new. YEAH!

Thanks so much for you help,

Donna

Someone help, please!! I recently purchased a Spellbinders Whimsical Tree. Today, I decided to use it. ICK!!!! First of all, the entire tree refused to cut. I sent it through the Cuttlebug many, many times using different shims, etc. As luck would have it, when I did finally get the entire tree cut, there was absolutely no way to remove it without ripping it apart. In fact, about 1/3 of it is still in the die waiting for me to use tweezers, toothpicks and/or chewing gum to remove it! I have never had a problem like this with any other die I own. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

First I occasionally have a problem cutting intricate dies with my Cuttlebug. My CB is getting old and the rollers are getting loose . I just use extra shims

I always put wax paper between the die and the cardstock. It allows the die cut to come out very easily .
Hope this helps

Thanks much, Barbara Jay! I will give it a try before I decide to toss the die into a box in the closet never to be seen again!

Check out this thread: Spellbinder dies cut terrible by snoangel at Splitcoaststampers. There are a lot of suggestions here & NONE of them work. I believe there is a quality control (manufacturing) problem with the Spellbinder dies. I have 7 of them, including the tree, and none of them cut well and tear when trying to get the paper out of the die. I also have an old, well-used Cuttlebug. I'm TOTALLY disgusted with my D-Lite dies. Since purchasing them I have tried some VERY intricate Memory Box & C. C. Design dies and they cut in my old Cuttlebug with no problem and the paper releases easily from the dies. Read the thread I cited---all these people are having the same problem. It's not the Cuttlebug---it's the dies.

Thanks so much for the link, parknslide! I read each and every posting. I was totally 100% positive my Cuttlebug was not the problem. It always cuts every die perfectly. It was only the D-Lite tree I was having trouble with. My Memory Box dies and my other Spellbinders are not problematic at all. I have two more D-Lites that I have not yet opened. Unfortunately, I have had them too long to return them. At any rate, there will be no more purchased. Between the other dies I already own and my Cricut, I'm good to go! Thanks again!

I'm so sorry you all are having problems with the Die D-Lites. I have quite a few of them and have no issue cutting them. Have you contacted Spellbinders Customer Service? I know they would be happy to help you with these issues. Spellbinders is a great company to work with! Here is the number - 1-888-547-0400

Hello Friends!

It's discussions like these that make me love my job! It's so refreshing to see a supportive crafting community rally around one who has run into a problem. Thank you debbiemom23cs for you kind response. Our Customer Support department is a very helpful and valuable resource.

To PaperPatches: I am so sorry to hear about the issue you're having with your Die D-Lites. It is very true that wax paper helps the release of your paper from your intricate dies and also begins to "season" your dies for future use. We've also rolled a plain wax candle over our dies to give it that same waxy resist. If you've tried everything... we would request that you send us the dies so that we can see if there is an actual issue with the batch of dies themselves. We would then, of course, replace the dies with those that meet our highest quality of standards. Spellbinders prides itself in our customer service experience and will do everything we can to make your situation right. I'd like for you to personally contact me at [email protected] and I will connect you directly to a customer service agent.

To parknslide: I'm also sorry to read of your troubles with Spellbinders Die D-Lites. I offer you the same solution as I am offering PaperPatches. Email me directly and I will connect you personally with a customer service representative. It's possible that they will offer you some tips that you may have already tried. In the end... we will make sure that your product performs as it should.

As with any community forum... many writers come here to find solutions to problems that they've run into. It's very rare to find a thread that simply begins as a positive experience. I am certainly thankful to community members who have written back on a thread after I was able to personally help them and turn a negative experience into a positive one. Hopefully, I will be able to help both of you!

*much love and respect*

OK gals just need to vent and maybe get an answer to a question I have. I have had a Wizard for umpteen years. It is so old it is purple, not the newer raspberry one. The only ones older are the red proto type model. I love my Wizard and have no complaints about it. My frustration is that I resently bought a Grand Caliber. Way back when I bought my Wizard it came with every plate I could possibly need, so I ASSUMED that the Grand Caliber would do the same. I took it, still in the box Saturday to help a co-worker make her wedding invites. Pulled it out of the box. Got online to see what sandwich we would need to use with a Sizzix die only to find out the one plate we needed was sold seperately. Excuse me? Sold seperately? What the heck? And it is called out for several sandwiches. When did Spellbinders become so cheap that they not include every thing you would need with the machine?

I got a Grand Calibur for Christmas and have only used it a handful of times and only with my flat nestabilibies dies. When I am cutting something it is also (unevenly) embossing enough to be a problem. I'm getting a little disappointed because obviously I don't want to emboss everything I cut.

I've checked and rechecked that I am doing everything right so I don't know what to do to stop it.

Is anyone else having this problem? Anyone have any ideas to make it stop?

HI VickyLyneQ,

I've personally not had this problem before. Spellbinders does recommend embossing in order to enhance the the finished product, but as you said, you may not want to emboss. Please send me an email with a photo of your problem and I can connect you directly with customer service. Thanks! [email protected]

I am looking for something like deckled squares. Is there such a thing? I have found the rectangles...is there anything close? Maybe a label set that looks deckled? Thanks in advance!!

There must be deckled squares. I have deckled rectangles from Spellbinders. Spellbinders checks this thread too....maybe if they don't make it they'll think about adding that now? I just did a search and didn't find anything except the rectangles.

I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get back to this thread. My kids are here one on break from college and one on vacation from work and we have been going non stop but as soon as I have a minute I will cut another piece and send a picture. Thank you for responding!

i have recently purchased several "gold" Spellbinder dies (Gold Square One and Gold Ovals One) I saw after purchasing them I need a Jr. Magnetic Placement Mat. What is the difference between the Jr. Magnetic Placement Mat and the SU Magnetic Mats.

Hi Biko!

The Spellbinders magnetic mats act as both a shim and a way to keep the dies in place when you're nesting several designs. The thickness is similar to that of a magnetic sheet from the office supply store, but a teeny bit sturdier. Depending on the machine you're using... you may try using a simple cardstock shim, but we do recommend the magnetic placement mat for best results. I can't give an opinion on the SU mat because I don't have experience with it. I hope that helps! -Kelly

Thank you Kelly. I absolutely LOVE all my Spellbinders' dies and have not used the gold sets as of yet when I read about the magnetic placement mat. I'll see if one of our local craft stores have it in stock. Thank you for the reply.

I have a large collection of Spellbinder dies. The ones I use most often are Classic Circles, Ovals and Labels .
I often layer them with one or more of the Lacy decorative style dies , but I would recommend starting with the Circles, Ovals or any of the Labels. Labels 4 is very versatile die and one of my favorites
