Inquiring minds want to know.......
Subscribing because I'd like to know that, too. I have a Bigshot and I would guess that the Bigz dies would be okay cutting shrink plastic, but I don't know that for a fact. Great question!!!!

Steel rule dies cut shrink plastic fine. They are the only ones I have tried.

I have used punches on shrink plastic as well. Just punch, then stamp and shrink.

I've used my older Sizzix to cut through Shrink Plastic with no problem. The plastic is really thin before your shrink it, so it's really easy.

shrinky dink and punches?
hi
actually the most fun thing that I just tried is to take a piece of shrinky dink and run it through my Big Kick..color it before I shrink it..and attach it onto a card with crystal stickles..See but yes punches do work..a well made punch. Cyndi
ps see my example I made this week--an ATC.

Hey Cyndi! Thanks so much for your beautiful example and great ideas. I had no idea you belonged to SCS. Remember me? From Walmart and a stamping group that used to be on Yahoo? What a small world.

Yes, Michael's has them. But I was not able to find the clear ones. They carry bright white, color and frosted ones.
I use my SU punches on the plastic, it works well.

Do they actually make "clear" clear? I don't know if I've ever seen those. All the ones I've ever seen have been either white, black or frosted.

Yes, there is clear "clear" sheets. One of my friends brought some from a local art shop (non-franchised).

Cutting Shrink Plastic
I have used my Cricut Machine to cut shrink plastic as you can cut at different sizes. After cutting out I color with my pencils or markers and punch a hole in the top for string and then shrink. I have done this with my grandkids and we made cute little necklaces.

In what department do you find the shrink plastic at Michael's? I asked for it once in the store, and they looked at me like I was from Mars.

You can use shrink plastic in the Wizard, but when you are using low profile dies like Spellbinders, QK or Sizzlets you will have better luck cutting with thinner shrink plastic like the Lucky Squirrel brand. There is a big difference between brands, they aren't all the same. I usually send the plastic through a couple of times to get a good clean cut.

I have a question!!! What size hole punch do you use, before the shrink process, to leave a hole big enough for a necklace hangie thingie??? yes those are the technical terms

I used a 1/4 inch punch for jewelry. Also, if you take a piece of shrink plastic - 6 inches long and use a ruler to mark it up with permanent marker (making it a ruler) then shrink it you have a tool to show you about what size something would shrink to. Hope this explanation makes sense. Am working on a bad headached so if it's confusing I apologize and let me know and I'll try to explain better later.

Brilliant idea! I bought shrink plastic about a year ago and haven't used it. I'm going to get it out tonight and at least make a ruler with it.

I use 1/8" circle punch and it seems to work okay for me. I don't like my hole to large that it wiggle around too loosely. But the marking on the plastic is a great idea!

love shrink plastic, couple of notes though on the clear.. be sure it's presanded I tried sanding the clear on my own and it just does not give as nice of a result imo. I use punches on it with no problem. I use staz-on ink to stamp it and colored pencils usually seems to give better coverage than markers imo. I also use the 1/8" hole punch and I use my heat gun instead of oven. I made a tool using a wooden sponge paintbrush handle ,tore off the sponge and plastic bit, and glued a needle into the remaining hole and used it in the punched hole to hold the shrink it while I heat it, otherwise it sometimes blows away then the cats get it and I dump everything getting cat getting shrink-it, cat gets spooked runs across table, papers stamps and ink flies. ahhhh crafting with kitties
