Default scale for postage

Hi
I did a search and I don't see a thread for this.

I have been using a food scale for many years to weigh my mostly small packages and then just finding out big ones at the PO and losing out on my postage program...but, I am very ready to switch over to a real postage scale. With increasing mailing costs, I want to use that cost saving program as much as possible.

Any one have one or know of a good one? I want it to be able to weigh big boxes too up too 100 lbs.

Thanks!

This is not what you want, but may work until you find what you want. I use our bathroom scale. Some times I have to hold it and weigh the both of us and then weigh myself alone, depending on the box. My Taylor food scale works otherwise for small packages and cards

Thanks Jeanne. I have done that in the past but it was not really accurate.

I may have to get two. One for up to 20 lbs or whatever and one for heavy weight.

Years and years ago, I bought an official postal scale from the USPS, believe it or not for $10.
Well, they are $35 now but they still sell them:
USPS® Digital USB Postal Scale, 25 lb. max. | USPS.com
And now they have USB connectivity I guess for Stamps.com or USPS priority shipping methods. I don't do any of that, I just order stamps online and mail first class, but I know my scale has performed perfectly all these years, so it was a very good investment for me. I know I've had it a good 15-20 years now.
I also bought (on Amazon) a scale calibration weight so that I could test check the scale occasionally and verify it is still working properly.
They also have postal scales on Amazon, not USPS official.

Hi there,
I purchased a scale years ago for selling on ebay. I got it from "Old Will Knott Scales". The My Way UltraShip 55lb postal scale.
It is extremely accurate and can weigh up to 55 lbs. Weighs in g, lb, kg & oz plus has the tare/zero option. I forget what I paid for it as it was so long ago.
Unfortunately they are no longer in business but according to the website "Scales Plus" has acquired their assets. You can also check on ebay.
Good luck!

I have an Oxo kitchen scale that can weigh up to 10 pounds in ounces or grams. I use that for cards, tossing them onto the platform several times to be sure I have an accurate result, and so far, so good.
