Default printers that print cardstock

Hi all, I've been reviewing articles and posts on best all-in-one color printers. It seems that a lot of them only print up to 25 pound paper. Not good if I want to print on cardstock or heavier paper. Some models don't mention the pounds that will print.

What new model printers do you have and like? Did you choose a dye or pigment ink printer?

Thanks,
Mob

There are some threads in General Stamping Talk about printers.
I have an HP Deskjet 1512 from Walmart. Very inexpensive. The 'paper' goes in the back, so no turning around within the machine to prohibit printing on cardstock.
25 lb paper is basic copy paper. I have used 100 lb cardstock in my printer and it does fine. I don't print in color very much, so I can't speak to the quality of color printing.
I have had HPs before and always liked them. I DON'T like Canon because it Demands that you have color and Black ink in place, or it won't print. Expensive ink.

I don't know anything about choosing dye or other type of ink. I have never seen that mentioned in the specifications of a printer.

I've used a Canon with non Canon ink* for a year now with no problems. The darn machine does think the ink is running low when it's really about half used up, but that's easy to ignore (and at some point you have to push a button that says it's OK to keep printing with low ink). and while it's true, all cartridge slots need a cartridge in them, the printer will work if you only replace one or two and leave the rest. I can't speak about exact color quality on card stock, because as harvestmoon said, the model I had needed to curve the paper and couldn't handle anything much over regular copy paper.

I'm no printer expert, but it seems like printers with a rear or side slot are designed to accept heavier weight paper. On the recommendation from another SCSer, I now have the decently priced Canon TS9020, which seems like it was made with the crafter in mind. Haven't used it yet. When the weather is better (I don't think shipping ink in sub zero weather is a good thing ...), I'll be ordering a continuous ink system which brings the ink cost wayyyyyyyy down.

ETA:* Canon compatible, just not name brand

I have two Canon Pro 100 printers and love them! I use 110 lb. cover weight Neenah paper and it feeds through with NO problems.

Another vote for cannon here! I have a Cannon TS6020 thqt handles my Gina K Cardstock wonderfully through the rear tray! I dont print much so ink price isnt as much of an issue for me as I dont have to replace often.

I ended up buying an Epson Workforce 7720. I haven't tried it yet, but it will even print 12x12 which is a bonus. It has double sided scanning and printing. I haven't used it yet, but I have high hopes. mob

HP Officejet 7610, which claims it will print 12x12 and up to 110lb, although like the previous poster I haven't yet put it to the test. I have printed good photos on heavyweight photo paper though.

I just purchased a Canon PIXMA TS9020 Inkjet Wireless All in one Printer. I haven't had it too long to play with it but I have already printed on Stampin Up Thick Whisper White card stock from the rear paper tray without any problems. Canon lists this as one of their Craft Printers.
It is actually "last years" model so it was cheaper (bonus!) I purchased it on Amazon

An update (since I cannot find how to edit my original post)....

Today I had a little more time to experiment with my Canon PIXMA TS9020,
I have printed onto 140lb Cold Press Watercolor paper from the rear paper tray without any issues.
Hope this is helpful....
