Default Perfect fx crystal shimmer??

Hello all
I found this in my stash of embossing powders but have no clue what it is or how you would use it.
Made by US Art Quest. It's kinda of chunky like kosher salt.
I have googled it but this particular item doesn't come up. I figured if anyone would know it would be someone here
Has anyone ever used this and how so?
Thank you

Please don't leave us hanging regarding your unusual 'find'!
Stamp a circle, a leaf, or any old flower with VersaMark, emboss it, and show us what you get!!

Hi TexasGrammy,
lol, its so big and chunky I doubt my little ole heat tool will melt it. I might need a blow torch. lol
BUT....I WILL try it and let you know how I fared.

Thanks for your reply

If it is like other chunky/ultra thick powders, it may take two to three coats to achieve the look they were going for. Let us know.

Ok well I started as usual with You Tube University.

What I found was US Art Quests posts in general and one that is dedicated to them.

https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...y=US+Art+quest

So then I went directly to US Art Quest to see if they had a demo blog....I did not see that but I did get their contact info-they are here in the states. You could call and ask them.

https://usartquest.com/

How old is this? Maybe it is a discontinued product?

Let us know! HTH

I wonder if it's like Sugar Dust by Stamp La Jolla. If it is, it's like a crackle/sparkle powder that you apply with double sided tape over your stamped image. It creates an interesting coating that has sparkle and shimmer, but you don't melt it like embossing powder. It's more like glitter. I haven't used it in many years, but I'm going to tty using it on some butterflies. Thanks for reminding me about this!

I haven't forgotten to post back with my results. I have just been so busy. I apologize.
I just got done with my "test". I took a large circle stamp (i wanted to make sure I had enough of an area to do the test). I applied versamark numerous times to make sure I had a good coating. Stamped my cardstock and poured the crystal shimmer over the image. Turned the paper over and about 95% slid right off. That's how big this stuff is. lol When I went to use the heat tool, I started with the underside then brought it to the top. The stuff blew off. :::sigh::

WAVEJUMPER: I will try the link you supplied and report back if I get an ans.
As far as the age of this stuff goes, I really don't know. It came to me in a box lot of stuff I purchased. I just tossed in with my embossing powders and forgot all about it
until now.

SCRAPJANNY: I googled the sugar dust and this stuff is nothing close. I was describing it as like a kosher salt but its really more like rock salt.

Thank you ALL so much for taking the time to help out. I really appreciate it.

Maybe it is not meant to be heated and just glued? Sounds too big for heating.

I was wondering that too after reading the last post. I have some Cosmic Shimmer stuff that I either use with glue or sprinkle it over a layer of UTEE before it sets.
