Default Paper storage help

I just purchased 6 huge boxes full of SU 8 1/2x11 paper and don't know how to store it. Right now it is in the boxes by color. My hubby is going to make a paper shelf for me, but don't know when that will be finished. I want to be able to use my paper but not sure how to store it until my shelf is done. Does anyone have any idesas? I was thinking of the milkcrates with hanging file folders, but am affraid to see how many that would take

Whoa - aren't you lucky with all that paper. Can I come to your house to play? lol

Anyway, I put mine in the hanging folders, 3 colors per folder, and it works out well. Could you just take out a few colors of each sheet and store the rest for now? Good luck.

I store my 8 1/2x11 upright in those plastic things they sell to hold magazines in. It'll hold just over a ream of cardstock in the average sized ones and more in the larger ones. They are nice to pull out off of the shelf if I want to use a "color family" at a time at my work table. You can group them as color families or manufacturer,.... whatever works for you. They were cheap and you can get them at any office supply, WM,.....

Have fun with your new goodies!

My 8.5 x 11 cs is in a file cabinet, in those hanging folders. The folders are labeled with the colors.

I also store mine in the magazine plastic holders. I have one
for each SU color family and then I made file seperators for each
color-- hope that makes sense and then on the outside I labeled
Soft Subtles -- Bold Brights etc. I love to organize and I am always
looking for new ideas. Mine don't get dusty either

I think I'm going to have to go the hanging file folder route for a while. It was madness last night. I had to empty out all 6 boxes twice because I was looking for my whisper white and I overlooked it the first time. hubby just walked in and shook his head and left

I got a rolling file cabinet able to do both sizes of 12 x 12 and 8-1/2 x 11 paper on 2 shelves. Love it.

This is my method too. I have lots of 8.5 x 11 chippy and have a piece separating each color that is labeled with a tab by color. Love it!

I love having my paper in a file cabinet!!! I use hanging folders with manilla folders inside. Behind each manilla folder, I drop the scraps for that color. I love this system. Paper scraps use to be such an ordeal for me...and now no paper issues!!!

Wonderful stash of paper you have there...

I too use the Magazine Holders. I have one for each color family.

Mine are stored inside a cabinet so dust is not an issue.

Just a suggestion...Whatever you do for storage for paper, make sure that you don't have large quantities exposed to light for any period of time. The edges of the paper ( and in from the edge a bit, depending on how tightly the paper is stacked ) WILL fade over time. It is best to store paper inside a cabinet or something.

Mine too. I have a 5 drawer filing cabinet and keep a color family in each drawer. In the other drawers I put the in colors, neutrals, and discontinued colors, etc. I keep them in the cellophane and just slit open the top. I like that I don't have to worry about dust, fading, etc.

I have a beautiful two drawer vertical file cabinet with a hutch. I have my papers seperated by color family in hanging files. Each file will fit two full packages of the color assigned to it and half sheets as well. I have in the front of each color family a file with the color family name and in this file I keep the assorted packages. Hope this makes sense. I love this and my papers are not in the light.
Blessings.

I will probably do the file folder. THe remaining will have to stay in the boxes untiil my shelves are built. I went through all that paper to see what I have last week. I have allo 48 plus retired and at least 100 of each color. Had no idea what I was getting into when I told the lady I would take it. But hey, for $50 for all that, who could pass it up.

I use the Magazine holders too - but I had purchased mine before SU started selling the plastic kind. I got mine fairly cheap and I actually lay them on their side (instead of upright)so that I can open my cabinet where I store them and just slip out paper when needed.
Hope that makes sense to you.

I'm another one that uses the magazine holders for my 8 1/2 x 11 paper. I store them on 2 shelves in my cupboard.Since I have a cabinet, it keeps them dust free and out of the sun...

Cheap way to sote paper in easy to handle bundles.

I like my cardstock to lie flat, so it doesn't have a CHANCE to curl! I got a mailroom organizer from Office Depot. I don't remember what it cost, but I'm cheap so it wasn't much! Here's a photo:

I use magazine holders and sort my color too. They are on a shelf and don't get dusty or in the light.

I store my SU paper in the Cropper Hopper vertical folders in rainbow color order on a shelf in my stamp room closet. I leave my paper in the cellophane sleeve to keep it from getting dusty and keeping the corners in good condition. I can easilly see all the colors and have them indexed on the outside with color name. For now, you could just get a cardboard file box from Office Max and only store enough cardstock that you will use until your shelves are built and put aside the rest. This is a cheap alternate while waiting for your DH to get building.
