Needed: Heat embossing tool recommendation1

Hi all. My old dependable Marvy heat gun died a while back. I got a Heat It tool by Ranger (from Amazon), but it doesn't seem to get hot enough to melt embossing powder, though it's fine for heat setting ink and drying sprayed cardstock.

I've seen Recollections & Martha Stewart at Michael's, Darice at AC Moore, and Milwaukee/Hero Arts online.

Which of these is the best and will do the job? Do you have any other recommendations?

I use my MS heat gun for Shrink plastic so it gets pretty hot. It also buckled my acrylic desk blotter which is about 1/8" thick (luckily I was able to hear it up again to flatten it out).

I too have the Ranger Heat-it that Tim Holtz uses all the time.I used to have the blue Heat-it-up tool, but my issue with that was it was very noisy. Seeing the ranger one in use at a Craft fair, I got that because it was so quiet. I use mine for drying/heat embossing powder/ melt UTEE/shrink plastic with no problems, so maybe you have a faulty one?

I would get another Marvy. Mine has lasted over 11 years, and it's still going strong.

I have the Ranger gun and a Milwaukee that I got from Hero Arts. The Milwaukee is very powerful and I use it the most.

Stampin Up has their heat tool on the clearance rack, regular price is $29.95 and it is now priced at $11.99. I have this one and love it. It is made by Milwaukee.

I have a Little Pink Pig heat gun and I really like it. I have had it for a long time and am not even sure they sell them any longer. It still works great.

I also have the Ranger tool and I am not impressed with it. Sometimes it will not even melt embossing powder... sometimes it does. It may be faulty. :(

If I had to get a new one I would get the Hero Arts heat tool. I have heard nothing but reviews about it.

I've used my Marvy model 2500 for about five years without any problems.
