Just made my first purchase for 2016. I pre-ordered the new mini MISTI. I feel like it's splurging, but seriously, I can never resist anythng "mini"! I'm pretty excited, even though it's not expected to ship until March.
The original size isn't large enough sometimes for me, so, no, I won't be ordering the mini.

I didn't find the dimensions of the mini on the MISTI website; did anyone else see the measurements of the work area? I assume it is "card-size" -- but that means different things to different people.
A folded A2 card will fit in this 6 x 7 version. The stamping area measures 6 x 4.75. Although the stamp area is much smaller, you can still get a lot of techniques out of this little beauty. The smaller footprint will be awesome on our desks. Not to mention how stinkin' cute this is.
The interior dimensions seem to be 4 3/4" X 6"; if you hover over the photo on the site, you can get a pretty good idea, since that card in the photo is an A2.

That's the new item? An even smaller version?
I was hoping it would be long, with an open slit on the hinge side that would allow scrapbookers to use 12x12 paper. Yeah, that would mean a contraption measuring about 8"x14", which would likely be too unwieldy for most card makers. But I thought a bigger one would allow her to target the scrapbooking folks. Maybe that can be release number 3. (wishful thinking)

I need this! I've always wished that the original was a bit smaller (I never make anything large-ish), so this is perfect! I had no idea that it even existed, so thanks for the heads-up!
Am I mean, I bought two 10mm thick bits of Acrylic and added a piano hinge and some foam that you put round a window and made my own.
No. Not mean. You are a frugal DIYer!
I have seriously considered doing so myself. The only thing stopping me is my lack of confidence in my acrylic/polycarbonate cutting ability.
I have read some nasty posts and even a few legal threats against people who've created their own at-home-use craft tools. Sad, especially when those posts and arguments take place within a crafty, do-it-yourself type of community that purports to be a Copy And Share with Everyone site.
As long as a person makes something for personal use, I see absolute NO PROBLEM doing so. The problem comes when a crafter (ie: manufacturer) starts selling their copied DIY tool for profit.

I got it off Ebay .
I am changing how to make this,,, cos this is now so easy.
GET some Tape and just tape to blocks together.
Close it and tape the outside of the hinge.
I used Electrical tape and you can use it to stick your card to the block as it won't hold on the card, just like masking tape ONLY better.
So no cutting Required, I went for A4, as i wanted a big one, but for under $10 can make one half that size.
I love to scene stamp and was waiting to see if the new on would be bigger. I have held off on this product. I can go ahead and order the original now.
With only a $15 to $20 (depending if one pre-orders or not) difference in price, I would probably go for the larger rather than smaller for more versatility/options.
I pre-ordered the mini. This is perfect for me since it takes up less room. I always have to clear a space and shove my laptop to the back of my desk. I will definitely use both size MISTI's since I sometimes have a card project that has a lot of different elements. Two is better than one. Not a scrapper but I see the advantages of the mega for the big projects.
Just ordered the mini as well - guess being on the fence for a year served me well! The mini will be a better size for me and will help with my perfectionist tendencies and make me a faster stamper, I hope! Now the wait begins....
If I order the mini (to which I would prefer), what would I do with the original one that I have used only twice??
Keep it, because I guarantee you'll need it just as soon as you sell it or give it away!!! I'm sure there are things you can't do with the mini that you can with the original. KEEP IT.
I was so excited to see the Mini come up for preorder! I had wished for one a number of times, but didn't take the plunge because I'm a chaos crafter like Lydia and it was bigger and I didn't know where I'd put it, but after totally ruining a sentiment on an otherwise gorgeous card the other day I came right upstairs and preordered the mini. Can't wait for it to come! It will be a start of Spring present!
has anyone seen the price or expected preorder/arrival date for the mega? I like the smaller sizes but think if I get the larger, it will give me the opportunity to use more stamps on my scrapbook page because of the simplicity.
I pre-ordered and so excited to get the mini version!! I will use my original for foam mounted stamps and the mini for clear stamps and on the go stamping.

The price is $100 and they will ship in May - the prototypes were at CHA to gauge interest and there was a ton - so many stores ordered them and that's when they will start shipping.
I have the original MISTI so I have no interest in getting the larger or the smaller one. I really like the size of the one I have.

Julia, although I ordered the mini I am beginning to agree. I put a whole unfolded card in my regular one the other day. I just realized that my 8.5 unfolded card is not going to fit in the new one, only card fronts.
Congrats on your health tip. Although I don't test celiac, wheat just wrecks me. I finally went wheat free after much resisting and it has changed my life. Helpful to add that reminder in your posts.
I love my regular size, can't see going smaller. I do love the idea of the bigger one though. There are times I stamp and color before die cutting my image. It would be great with the larger size to accommodate a regular size piece of card stock, that would work for me!!!! And, for the time when I ever do get to scrapbooking some of those photos I have, it sure could come in handy!
Sharon246, how great you had the vision to create your own misti. I think there can't be one thing wrong with creating your own for your use. I only wish I had the vision you have! Good for you.
