Default Let's talk honeycomb paper, shall we?

Have I been living under a rock? I was watching a video at Inky Antics with these pop up cards and they use honeycomb paper on the inside of the card.

My LSS can't keep it in stock. Says its the latest "rage" so now of course, i want to try it out. It looks easy enough, I wonder if it really is as easy as it looks to assemble.

You can check it out here Inky Antics Rubber Stamps

I've had some of this for 'eons'. I bought it at a stamp convention in SoCal years ago. Never did a thing with it!

Very cute. Do you think you could just buy the honeycomb paper and get it to work with stamps you already have -and not have to buy the coordinating stamp sets.

For example, I have tons of cupcake stamps, and don't need any more cupcakes.

Probably I need to just get some of the paper and experiment.

It's only the *latest rage* in that things come around, fade out and come around again . I remember having some on my wish list about 4 years ago, but I didn't have as much disposable income back then and never got it. It wasn't being sold with matching stamps back then, I'm sure you could work it with stamps already in your stash.
I used to just LOVE the Christmas decorations we had made from that stuff when I was little, they were like magic to me back then.

I'm thinking it would definitely work with our stamps we have already in our possession. Let me know if you find it Annette. there is no Archivers by me.

I got a cupcake set at the Austin Archiver's. These super cute "wow" cards are part of my theory, it's better to give than receive.

Oh, man! This stuff makes me crazy! Another fad thing, another product I'm supposed to learn how to use, and then I'll buy some, and then I'll buy some more because there will be a sale or a coupon, and before I know it I'll have a drawer full and how many pop-up apples and Easter eggs can you make? I really wish the manufacturers would put their creativity into something less trendy and more durable, something that I can use over and over for years and years. All these goofy new things just make me anxious.

This stuff would work with any stamp image that's symmetrical and is big enough to fold in half.

I saw the stamp sets and honeycomb paper at my favorite stamping/scrapping store along with samples of cards made with the sets - SO cute! I did buy some there because I live an hour and a half from the store, but I also found it to buy online.

When I did my search, I even found directions on how to make my own honeycomb paper! Here's the link: How to Make Honey Comb Paper | eHow.com

I don't know if I want some THAT much, but if I can't find it locally, it might be worth a try.

got some at Stamplistic in Amherst, Ohio. also have it at Archievers in North Olmsted. it is fun, but hard to cut..you can use any stamp that is round, etc. and fold it in half. enjoy

I think Martha Stewart has done some projects with honeycomb paper, not with stamps though.

Hi! The stamp sets will work without honeycomb paper. For example, if the honeycomb shape is an apple, there is also a regular apple in the set so you can use it either way. You don't have to use the honeycomb to make lots of cute cards and projects with the set!

The honeycomb paper comes in fairly small packs, so you don't have to buy alot to get many projects out of it.

have fun!

Thanks for all the compliments on the stamps! I'm the artist who drew the stamps. It was loads of fun and we have 8 more sets coming out soon that I love even MORE!!! Wait till you see the baking kitty and puppy!!

You don't have to use the honeycomb paper to get lots of fun projects from the stamp sets...but it sure is a fun look. I like the very simple shapes the best...the cupcake makes me laugh!!

I would love to see your finished projects!

I just tried making my own honeycomb paper and it didn't work so I will most definitely be buying some from Inky Antics .

Any stamp that would look good when you stamp half, then mirror it would work well. It wouldn't have to be symetrical to start with. But that would be a good starting point. You could always cut off distracting non-symmetrical elements too. Ex: if you have a cupcake with a cherry on top, just trim it off because the actual stamping doesn't show! Or a little girl holding a balloon. You could just use the balloon part. I do love the accompanying stamps though so don't hate me Tammy!

You did a SUPER-UBER great job on designing the coordinating sets... It makes the honeycomb phase more fun seeing the new and fresh ideas to go with it. Hope you'll design a Christmas set and include some ornaments and bells with it... That would take me back to my childhood... just a thought and maybe a hint!

I ordered directly from Inky Antics and got my goodies in only a few weeks -- they were swamped with orders! My local Archivers sold out of everything the first two days they had them in stock, so I went to the source!

It really is very easy to use, and a lot of fun too. My local Archivers carries the papers and stamp sets, as well as a couple of other smaller stamping stores.

Does anyone know when they will come out with more stamp sets? I am dying to try the paper, but none of the ones out now catch my fancy.

I can see this stuff working really well with dies. It looks like it's thin enough that Sizzix dies would cut through it. I can see flowers and hearts and stars, oh my! :-)

Isaw them in the Archivers ad and found a small amount at my local Archivers (they keep it behind the counter because they don't have aa display place yet so I had to ask about it). The price detered me. Too much for the very few cards I'd use it on.

You don't have to use the honeycomb paper to get lots of fun projects from the stamp sets...but it sure is a fun look. I like the very simple shapes the best...the cupcake makes me laugh!!

I would love to see your finished projects!
happy Stamping!

crazy4theislands, I love your stamps! I ordered your stamps and the honeycomb paper mine from Inky Antics as soon as I saw them and asked if they'd like to sponsor one of our Catered Crop challenges. They said yes! Woo Hoo! So, I'm hoarding mine until the challenge. Oooo, they keep calling my name. I'm so glad I got mine when I could because my Archiver's was out of them, too.
