Question "layering" ink question

ok, i have a question. what type of ink would you use if you were trying to "layer" your color. say a solid red image--and then adding a yellow pattern of some sort on top of the red image.

does that make sense? i'm thinking palette hybrid ink, but i only have the black noir and burnt umber and they are a bit dark to try to layer...i guess i want the "pignment" effect, in that it will keep the lighter color on a darker image.....but don't want to heat set, etc.

if i make any sense, thanks for you help! it is 11:50 pm, so i might not be totally with it!

thanks for any advice you can offer!

The SU ink works great for this. Good luck.
