Default Janome Sew-Mini on sale 9/16 to 9/19!

If anyone has been wanting the Janome Sew Mini, it goes on sale at Hancocks for $39.99, from 9/16 to 9/19.

I have a Singer that I use for my regular sewing, but got this little machine about a year ago just to use for crafting. It works well and this is a bargain price.

I know this will probably be a silly question, but can it do regular sewing as well or is it better just for the crafting purpose?

Thanks

I've only used my Sew Mini for crafting, since I have another full size Singer I use for sewing clothes and stuff.

But, here is a review of the machine that I found on a sewing site:

"It is a solid little machine. True Janome sound and feel. You cannot remove the builtin pressure foot. It has no buttonholer, so you are pretty much confined to simple sewing and mending. no heavyweight fabrics like leather or 12 layers of denim, but it handles several layers of cotton well. I think it would make a great little piecing machine for a quilter, at least for a long time. You will want a much larger machine for serious quilting stitching of course. For piecing it is fine.

It is also cute and fun! The bobbin area is the same as on my Jem Gold. Nothing TOY about this machine except the physical size."

I don't sew a lot, but I did sew some bedsheets with it. I have also used it on a pair of jeans - no problem. I had bought a few sewing machines over the years, only to return them within a week or two after buying because they just weren't easy enough to use. I've had my janome mini for a few years now and I just love the quality. The only thing that might be an issue is its petite size but not the way it sews.

thanks so much for the reviews I have a Singer sewing machine and a Janome embroidery machine, but had looked at a mini once for cards but was a little hesitant. I don't want to use my full size machine for that just in case I get messy which I tend to do!

Default e-bay pricing; refurbished (??)

Sale Dates; a great tip!! Thank you! My question is that I see the Sew Mini machine on e-bay comes from "Sewing Machines Plus More" and on their site, for the same price reduction of $34.99, I noticed the machines are refurbished. Wondering if that's a "bad thing?" (I tend to think it is.)

Many quilters buy this machine to bring to classes specifically for piecing. For the price, it's an awesome machine.

No problem. I'm on their mailing list and get the sale brochure. Here is a link to it online. Click over to page 10 on the brochure.

The kindnesses of people are so heartwarming (hey, my thoughts match your Dalai Lama quote, how great!!). I don't go to forums but re: this Sew Mini, it was a brain storm revelation because I really want to buy a machine and keep hearing about how great this one is and how wonderfully lightweight it is too.

Anyway, it is a thrill to check out the ad directly on the link you provided. Thanks again, so very much.

Have a wonderful day and week (I can't wait for next Thursday now; yeah!)!!

Warmly,
Donna

Can you adjust the speed and stitch length on this one?

You'll find all the specs if you go to the link below from Hancock Fabrics. I'm ordering mine tomorrow when it's on sale for $20 less at $39.99 through Sunday, 9/19. Can't wait!

Shop by Brand - Janome Sew Mini Sewing Machine

Maximum Speed 350 stitches per minute. Not as fast as larger Janome models but much faster than similarly-sized competitive products.

Stitches Straight and zigzag
Stitch Length 4 lengths for straight stitch (1.5mm, 2.0mm, 2.5mm, 3.0mm) in center needle position.
Maximum Stitch Length 3mm
Stitch Width 3 widths of zigzag
Max Width of Zigzag 4mm

zzz, sorry, tired and off to bed! Best of luck researching and deciding!

Just wanted to add - for those of you who are thinking of the Sew Mini who have never used a sewing machine before...

A really great feature for beginning sewers is that the machine just has one speed when you push the pedal. And it is fast enough, but not FAST.

Most sewing machines operate with a variable speed, and go slow when you first push the pedal, and then faster and faster according to how far down you push.

That feeling of the machine "running away from you too fast" can be nervewracking for beginning sewers. My dd has this little Sew Mini and she said that "runaway" feeling is what frightened her about learning to sew. She has gained a lot of confidence using the Sew Mini.

Hi girls, OK, so today the Janome goes on sale for $39.99. I waited til after midnight last night to order (eastern coast) and there hadn't been the price change. So now it is 8:00 a.m. on sale day number-one and it is OUT OF STOCK! I've been waiting a week for this sale. I may call them after my morning appt. I'm disappointed. Gotta run... thanks everyone.

Wow, that's so funny! At 3:02 when you wrote your note I'd hung up from C/S also (I date/time my records). The gal said 60 are coming in right now and will be available to order tomorrow. I'll keep checking.... HA!! C/S also just called me; they're returning my call and telephone message. She said the same thing! OK, will have to wait! Thanks so much for your help because I've been so anxious to place my order and now have been feeling blue. All is good! MANNNY THANKS!!!! Sincerely, Donna

Yeahhhh! It's been ordered and will be here next weeeeeeek!!!!

Thanks so much for all of your help; I love this circle of instant friends!!!

OK, in short.... I'd sent an e-mail to customer service early this afternoon before I eventually found their c/s tel. # to call. I ended up leaving messages to call me back at both.

Hours later I decided to try the tel. # again and reached the nice gal who said 60 have arrived but will need to be added to their system; and to order it tomorrow.

Then so shortly afterwards a gal called in response to my e-mail, and repeated the same. I hung up and in mins. "a gal called in response to my VMM." It was kind of funny...

So we talked it through, she gave it a whirl, and everything was processed (but not before her pc quit on her and lost everything and we had to start it all over again; LOL)!

So I may have it next Friday (my b/day is next Sat.) or the Monday after (9/27).

Now I'm happy and can sit back (anxiously)! Feels great!!!

OH! And they honored that free-shipping code too; totally terrific!!!! It only cost me the merch. total!

Thanks So Very Much for all of your interest and help! I love this community!!!!!

Take care,
Donna

Default It's Here with ME!!

Hi Everyone!!!

I wanted to let you know I received my new Janome Sew Mini YESTERDAY!!!!!! Oh my gosh, they are not kidding when they say how light-weight it is, it's unbelievable!!! I will work with it later today and can't wait! It's actually smaller-looking in size than I'd imagined but it's *perfect* (I'm used to seeing my full sized machine). I was impressed to see their feature where you can sew around the *free arm (is that what it's called?)* even though I will only be using this on cards.

So, here's one happy gal signing off! I'm grateful to all of you who discussed the machine with me and for your tips and help!!!!!

Happy Stamping and Sewing!!!!!!

With warm regards,
Donna
