Default intricate cuts?

I use a Cameo and follow the instruction in the cutting window. However, no matter what I do my intricate designs always tear. I purchased an Easter frame from the Silhouette store thinking if I used their product I wouldn't have this problem, but it is dragging and cutting the intricate details. Any suggestions?

take your blade out and check it to make sure you have no little pieces of paper stuck in there. very small pieces can effect the cutting. Try slowing down the speed. You may want to try a different paper. Sometimes you can just get a bad blade- or if you have used it alot it may be dull. Hope that this helps. sorry you are having trouble. :(

Check out Silhouette Plus Forum - there is a section entitled "Tips & Tutorials" which has a whole section on blades, mats and cutting. This was in the Cameo sticky #80 reply.

I tried all of the above and I actually watched my Cameo while it was cutting and noticed that it was double cutting everything...I set the cut to heavy cardstock and didn't tell it to do anything else. So, your itricate cuts come out beautiful?

I have a challenge for anyone willing to spend 99 cents! I have done all the trouble shooting, taken everyone's advice, wasted numerous pieces of paper, and hours of time to cut this design. Personally, I don't think they should sell any design that can't be cut acurately...just saying. Design # 29041 Bandana Rectangle Frame from the Online Studio Store. I will love you forever if anyone can figure this out!

Default Bandana Frame

Sorry to say - it didn't work well for me either - I cut it out on black cardstock 65 lb. - double cut - speed 1 - cut on 5. Of course once the blade caught threw the rest of the design off. For me it happened at the bottom of the frame.

Oh my goodness thank you so much...I have been working on it all day, test cut after test...so far the best cut I got was with the blade set on 3, speed on 1, and pressure at 30. I used a nice craft paper because of the color, and would you know? It was cutting beautiful and my Cameo froze!!! It just didnt' want to try anymore after being dilligent all day... again thanks for spending the money and giving it a try. Oh, and that was test cut 12!!!

I've never had my freeze up. Will need to clean my mat, which I should have done before trying and perhaps try again later.

Someone must have cut that successfully or they wouldn't sell it. I am just stubborn enough to get it right! I like your quote posted below...it gave me something to think about. We take so much for granted.

Wow, that does look intricate - you're brave to even attempt it!

Not brave...CRAZY! I have done about 13 test cuts and I finally have one that may be exceptable but for whatever reason my Cameo stopped in the middle of the cut and an error message said,"no link to the Cameo", weird. But, what cut was good...

Yeah! I'm pleased that you had success - love my cameo but there is a learning curve to get great cuts. Curious, did you cut it at the size the image comes up on the screen or did you reduce or enlarge?

I kept it the same size to begin with. Then I made it as close to an 8 x 10 as I could and that one came out great. I am now trying yet another the original size with all the same settings but am having the machine cut it twice. We'll see... The learning curve for me around this particular design? Buy a laser cut!! I have probably invested over $20.00 in paper for my 99 cent design...
