Hey folks,
Im a new crafter and just now building my stash! I've been to Michaels, Joanns, and Hobby Lobby. All for the first time this past week! What I didnt see were any flowers for cards! I only saw the huge fake flowers for flower arrangements not crafts. So my question is where do you get the flowers from?
I saw some lil' ones in the SU catalog, not really what Im looking for. Where do you buy Prima, and what other brands are out there? and WHERE are they?
TIA!!!

Our local Michaels is carrying some Primas. However, there are lots and lots of places on line to get them:
I LOVE Primas...especially the artful collage ones....but I keep collecting others online. I usually order a pack when I am already getting other stuff, so the shipping doesn't get too rediculous.
I have also ordered partial packs on Ebay...this is a great way to collect a lot of unique styles and colors at less cost without having 40-50 of the same thing.

if you want Primas, I've seen them at Target. And check out Texas Jody Lynn's blog...Confessions of a ribbon addict...she usually has some prima shares offered
The Michaels I went to didn't. I walked up and down every single isle. Just ask my hubby :p
I wish their store was closer. Being stuck with Wal-mart only really blows. Internet buying is ok, but you cant really judge size and texture online. Im definately a touchy feely girl! Im heading up near Chicago for my birthday this weekend to visit my Dad, Im hoping he treats me to a trip into the big city to see a REAL crafting store! LOL... *crosses fingers and chants ...please please please.....*

They dont have to be Prima brand, absolutely not. I just want some fabric pretties to spruce up my stuff. I believe I have officially de-flowered every old halloween costume my little girl owns. LOL... *VERYYYYY thankful she is ALWAYS a fairy. LOL.*
Do you have a link to that blog?
THANKYOU!

I've been known to buy some inexpensive Hawaiian party leis and take them apart. I have found some beautiful flowers on these, and you get a lot for only a few dollars.
I've bought a ton of 88c fabric flowers from Walmart and taken them apart. Different sizes and types are available depending on the season. JoAnn's has good sales in their flower section at the end of spring and summer. My favorite flowers to use though are the primas. I've gotten three bottles of large assorted flowers and always find what I need in them. I've collected flowers like I've collected ribbon- much more than I will ever need in a lifetime!
Our Hobby Lobby has flowers.. I think that some are in containers that you can't really tell they are flowers.. because you are looking at the sides of them.. but I have seen them and a lady had some at a get together recently and someone asked her where she got them and she said Hobby Lobby.
I hope you find some.
Pam

I have had some limited success cutting regular felt with my dies to make flowers. The flowers with very narrow pieces didn't work well - they just ripped apart. But for more solid flowers that worked pretty well. There was also a thread here some time ago about making your own primas (using punches I believe).
The Michael's nearest me has these flowers. And it's a cra*py little store. They were hidden under the display of the brads and other embellishments. Your best bet though is one of the online stores since they will have much better selection.
Can't answer your question, but I just wanted to say hello from a fellow digi-scrapper! I've been 100% digi for about 4 years and am addicted. I'm just now getting back into paper - but not for scrapping - I'll never go back to paper scrapping! - but for cards and other crafts. I'm loving it and am totally craving anything that can be glued down! LOL!
There are directions for tearing your paper in half LAYERWISE if that makes sense so you have a soft fuzzy side. You use paper punches on that, then you can also use an embossing stylus to trace each petal and you have something that looks just like a custom matched Prima! I made a little bottle of these a while back.
My micheals has primas sometimes but you can get them online in a ton of places just do a google search. I don't use them because I think they are a little pricey - I use my Cricut to make flowers.

This past weekend I had a blast using my cuttlebug, their set of 4 small scalloped circle dies and some felt to make my own....can see more of that happening in the future

I've made my own. I use mulberry paper and a layer of printer paper underneath to help the punch go through cleanly. Without it the paper can jam or not cut through completely.
