Default Help with peel-off stickers

I suppose this isn't technically rubber stamping but I saw a beautiful card that used those solid-color stickers that are shaped (this one was a flower design, with pieces that don't come with when you peel it off the backing sheet--does that make any sense?)

Anyway, I bought a sheet of the stickers, and I seem to be totally incapable of getting them off the backing sheet and onto a card smoothly--if sections weren't sticking together, the open areas were open too far and I finally designed a totally different card.

Is there a technique for making this work?

Magenta has a DVD that's just about how to use peel-offs. I have the DVD and it's very helpful. Magenta has a special (transfer) tape that you use to get the pieces off of the backing. You burnish the pieces on to the tape and then put them onto your project and they come off of the tape. I bought the DVD and peel-offs (they let me order online - I emailed them my order and called them with my credit card info) and the tape from a company in Nashville, Indiana called Wishful Thinking if that helps.

You might check Magenta's website to see if they have instructions on there. The DVD had neat card ideas and there is also a set of markers that they sell if you want to color the peel-offs.

Default help with peel-off stickers

Before buying that transfer tape, if you are a beginner, you can use ordinary "scotch tape" to pick-up the shapes. I give scrapbooking lessons in my Community Center and that is what I use because the transfer tape is a bit expensive.

here are a couple of tips that might help:

Use the tip of your craft knife to lift and place the sticker.

Place one corner of your sticker and then work with the other corners - you'll have less stretching and can guide it to keep it straight.

I also use scotch tape - I like removeable scotch tape but its getting pretty pricey so I'm starting to use regular scotch tape. Using tape really helps a lot when trying to place the word stickers. They peel-offs have a tendancy to stretch so it keeps the sticker in place.

have you heard about sticker markers? They are permanent markers that allow the metallic glimmer to shine through the ink. Whispers makes a nice set. they are about $20-25 but worth it. Better than using sharpies and you can use them for a lot of other applications like brads and buttons.

Hope this helps some.
