Question Help! Dropped Versafine pad...

I droped a Versfine Onxy Black ink pad and it bounced onto my pants AND then went upside down on the carpet. Any help would be really appreciated. A mess and of course I've read I should not wear good pants when creating. :-( Thanks in advance.

Oh no! This LINK here may have some useful advice, and this video might help. I would say don't use hot water on it, as that would probably set it. Don't know if it's mentioned in either of these, but hand sanitizer is great for removing said ink from stamps etc, so might be worth a try.

Good luck!

I dropped a pad onto my jeans once and used my Stampin' Up cleaner on them then washed them immediately in cold water........no stain. I think I would try the stamp cleaner on your carpet too........just don't use StazOn.......it's very harsh.

I didn't watch the video but agree that hot water is likely to set the stain.

Hair spray (especially the cheap ones) is effective at removing ballpoint ink and migjt help. Hand sanitizer works most of the time too. Possibly try your shampoo; I have read many times that it removes ink from hands but probably needs the scrubbing action of lathering.

Good luck!

TeeGeeDee's comment made me think of something else, but I don't know if it's available in the US. Imperial Leather soap is fantastic for removing ink from your hands, so that might also work. Just, Googled, and it seems its available via Amazon.

Versafine is an oil-based pigment ink like Versamark is. I use shampoo...Suave's coconut is what I use based on recommendations from others here. I will also use Simple Green cleaner on oil-based stains. I use it a lot in the laundry! You can find it in the cleaning section or in the automotive section of places like Walmart. It is a concentrate, can be diluted into a spray bottle, or used full strength for stubborn stains. These two would be my first trials on those stains.

Not sure if it works on fabric, but I´ve more than once used toothpaste to remove even old inkstains from tables and woddenfloors, and it sure worked fine, but like I said, I haven´t tryed it on fabric though.

Default Update and thanks

Thank you everyone who posted a suggestion. I tried several but nothing worked completedly. The stains are lighter, though. I will get a laugh probably when I wear the jeans to my next craft night. The carpet stain is the biggest worry and I will get some Simple Green next. Keep forgetting to buy some.

For what it's worth, if you can't get the stain out of the carpet, it might be worth checking with your home owners insurance company to see if they can replace it. I was surprised when a friend had a party, a guest spilled wine and the insurance picked up the tab to replace the carpet.

I wonder if your friend was surprised the next time she went to pay her insurance premium.

Given she was sharing the details a good deal after the fact, and telling me to consider doing the same for a similar situation, if there was an adjustment, it must not have been too big a deal. ( My insurance didn't cover my situation, hers did)

Last fall I needed to sell my home. I had some newer carpet that our dying dog had stained. A carpet installer I have used for many years told me of a secret weapon! It is called Tech. I got it at Ace Hardware! I think it is available on Amazon but I needed it before the carpet cleaner came! It is unbelievable how fast & well it works on carpet & other fabrics! Try it!

My husband set a waxy style shoe polish (the kind in a tin) on the floor and one of the dogs walked through it and tracked it all over the living room carpet in our rental. We used Spot Shot to clean it. Worked like a charm and didn't damage the cheapish carpet. We followed up with an oxi-clean solution and a clear water rinse.
