OK I finally got my Big Kick, but I have no textured plates yet. I was at our Target yesterday and I found the Fiskar's textured plates in their clearance stuff. NOW has anyone tried using these with the Big Kick????? I need to make these work, they are so great, but I can't see buying ANOTHER piece of equipment when I already have my new Big Kick. HELP ME I wanta texturize!!!!!!!!
TIA
I've used Fiskar's texture plates in my Big Kick - but I did buy the Big Impressions Starter Kit (BISK) made by Ellison first. The BISK contains 3 double sided texture plates, a sheet of silicone rubber and a black Impressions Pad.
If you look at Tab 1 of the Multi Purpose Platform that came with your Big Kick, you will see instructions giving the 'sandwich' recipe for texture plates.
I have no idea how to use the Fiskars texture plates in a BK without a BISK - I personally thought it was worth buying as I knew I wanted to emboss my brass stencils in my BK - and you need the BISK for that.
I get decent results with these using the BISK - you can also get ok results using LOTS of chipboard shims... but it does tend to make your shims curl up HTH!!
I have a Big shot and use Friskars texture plates. The sizzix red mat works much better than the black Ellsion one....As I dont have a mat yet, I use a double thickness of felt as my top layer...Dont know if this will work for you on the Big Kick. Linda x
I bought my sizzix starter kit on Ebay. It was around 20.00. I love the plates that came with it. I tried my texture plates from fiskars that have been collecting dust since they were purchased and they worked best with an extra piece of cardstock on top of the plate. Good luck finding the starter kit. Someone mentioned on a different thread they found the ellison one on ebay too.
Ok, what would i need to make the texture plates work then...i have the Big Kick with starter kit (multi use platform). so what else would I need...some foam?

I have a Bug, not a Big Kick. (I think that's why you're not getting a huge response here.) I would try some Fun Foam or thin rubber plumber's gasket (should be available at Home Depot and similar stores). You want something 1/16" thick. The Sizzix Texturz pack is supposed to be the replacement for the BISK. I Googled it yesterday and found it at the target.com website.

ok, i did find one finally online (the texturz kit) at Target.com. I'll let you all know when it comes what it all includes and the usefulness of it. Thanks so much!!

Okay for those ladies that have the Big Kick, do you really like it? Is it better than the original Sizzex (red & heavy)? I'm trying to decide which one. Any pointers? Is the best deal at Joanne's ($99.99 with free shipping)?
LOVE MINE. It isn't as heavy and you can use all the cuttlebug stuff with ease. I saw the best deal at COSTCO.COM it was like 79.00 I think. You wont regret it.
I have the Big Kick and love it. Costco.com is by far the best deal. I love using the embossing plates in it, both the ones from Fiskars and the ones by Ellison. Extra cutting plates are always a good idea to have on hand, as the dies etch them up pretty good over time. I have my Big Kick, the MPP, a BISK with two sets of plates plus the Fiskars plates I had already, and an extra set of cutting pads and I feel well stocked until I wear out my first cutting plates.
