Default Good glue that dries clear and matte

I like making quilled greeting cards. I am looking for a good glue that dries clear and has a matte finish. I usually use Tombow which I really like but for quilling I would love finding a matte glue. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Ranger Matte Medium is good. I prefer Collage Pauge by Aleene's. It works just as well, and it is considerably cheaper. I buy mine from Amazon. You can PM me if you need more info.

Thank you for your response. Can the Aleene's be put in a fine tip bottle and squeezed out like regular glue?

Ranger Multi Medium Matte is what I always go back to. Clear, a little time to move it, strong.

Yes. You might have to add a tiny bit of water to dilute it just a bit, but it should work. I have mine in a medium-tip bottle(similar to the size on an Elmer's glue bottle), and I didn't have to dilute it at all.

Love the Ranger Multi Medium Matte. I tried applying it with the 18-gauge Fineline applicator bottles, but I have fibro and a lot of trouble with my hands. So I ordered a 16-gauge needle online in the 1/2" size, and now have no trouble at all. These will fit in the Fineline bottles.

Linda, I can't make mine come out the needle tip at all! Can it be diluted with water?

IN RESPONSE TO SANDEELEE:

I have poured it into the Fineline bottles, but they're so flat you don't have much room to squeeze. When I ordered my needles and scabbards, I ordered "Boston round bottles" because they're much easier to use.

These are the scabbards I use & the company I order from:

JG16-SCX 16 Gauge Scabbard (Cover) for 16 gauge standard needles. 50 per bag

Here are the needles:

16 Gauge Jensen Global Blunt Luer lock Needles

Here are the 2-ounce Boston round bottles with the Luer Lock caps:

JG2.0BC Jensen Global 2 oz Boston Round Bottle W/ Luer Lock Cap 10 per bag

I always order more needles and scabbards, so if they get stuck or damaged, I can pop a new one on.

I don't remember having a mess when I transferred the Ranger MMM or with the Glossy accents. But I was not using the Fineline bottles. I was using the Boston rounds referred to above.

Yes, for both the small (.5 oz) and larger bottle. I’ve used them for a long time after trying everything else under the sun. Here’s one:

Ranger Fine Tip Applicators 0.5 oz. (Gray) - Ellen Hutson LLC

If you look at the second photo, you’ll see a pin inside the top. That pin keeps the narrow bottle opening open. I do a little trick to make sure glue never sticks to that pin before putting it away.

Unscrewing the top off of a bottle of either Hero Arts/Stewart or ScraPerfect Best Cleaner Ever, I touch the “straw” from the cleaner bottle to that pin in the applicator lid a couple of times.

I don’t know why I started doing that, but but even if a bottle sits for weeks (since I tend to have a few bottles going at a time!) there’s never any clogging.

The other fine tip applicators I have are from Scraperfect. She has a video showing how to do an occasional deep clean, but I’ve never had to do that.
No-Clog Writing Caps - ScraPerfect

Both caps can be found in different shops, including Amazon. (It’s not always clear on every site which size they’re selling so buyer beware.)

BTW, I love these for when the bottle doesn’t have a lot of medium in it - keeps the adhesive toward the tip. I don’t leave the bottle in it, just use it when crafting. Rainbow colors glue holder // tool holder // glue stand | Etsy

Thank you everyone. I know this is the place to come when I need advice. You never disappoint. I ended up ordering the Ranger fine tip applicator from Ellen Hutson. The Ranger multi medium matte was out of stock so I will get that from Amazon.

Sandeelee, it took a bit how to steady the cap pin to insert it into the bottle, since it moves, just being attached at one end inside cap top. But it became second nature after a using a finger to hold it still.

Watch this video, she goes over at least 8 options of glues, what they look like on black paper, how strong they are and the price per ounce of each one.

I have always used...and loved...the Tombo Mono Multi glue (the green bottle). I would buy it with a coupon at Joanns, which makes the price point very good.

But recently I have been having problems with it. It is settling, or separating, or something, and I go to use it and it is very watery. I have shaken the bottles a lot to try to get it to go back to the right texture, but it just settles out again. On top of that, the color seems to change to a creamy color instead of white and doesn't dry clear anymore. I wish I had something to shake my bottles like the paint shaker machines at the paint store! Haha!

I have just bought some of the Gina K Connect glue and am planning on switching over. I just cringe at the cost, however.

I have Ranger Multi Media Matte...I use it for sequins etc.

Diane, I put a BB in some of my bottles to help get everything stirred together.

And I had the same problem with the Tombow mono; I had cream-colored snow!

There are some good suggestions here, I use the Tombow often. However, I am specifically looking for a good glue that dries clear and matte. So far it looks like Ranger Multi Medium Matte is what I'm looking for. I just wish I could find it locally rather than order it on-line.

I too like Ranger's Multi Matte Medium. I use an easy no clog cap I get from Scraperfect.com which also sells my other favorite glue and glue remover Best Glue Ever. They are a family business, so their prices are lower than what you can get it through the other craft sites or Amazon. I've never had a problem with their tips, since the cap has a built in non clog type needle. I've replaced my other glue caps and of course use it on theirs as well. It's great!!!
