I'm hoping someone has a suggestion for a gold powder that is shiny. I have older SU powder (probably 5 years), and it's not super shiny--I'd like something that would go well with SU's Symbols of Fortune and Expressions in Ink papers, so almost foil-like. The catalog doesn't offer gold powder separately, and I have several copper and silver powders already. I'm not opposing to ordering on line, but have both Joann's and Michaels within a reasonable driving distance.
Thanks in advance for your help.
your old gold powder is probably "bad" I had one that was quite old and it just didn't shine anymore.
got a new one and YAY shiny
OH for non-SU easy to find, I like Stampendous EP
ETA: pretty sure Joann's carries the Stampendous EP
**thanks my- Joann's had Ranger brand (on a small bottom shelf, behind 3 other colors!), and I've tried that--better, still not super shiny, but it will do for now. Appreciate your response..
Look for ones that have the word "foil" or "glaze" in the name. They will probably give you the smooth and shiny look you want. Tim Holtz has a new line of embossing glazes that are worth a look.
Good luck.

Hi there, I think WOW eps are generally great. I have a Brutus Monroe called gilded and an Ink On 3 called gold rush. The gold rush is a brighter gold than the gilded. I do think ep can dull with time and doesn't really melt very well, sadly. I probably still have my first jar of ep in my drawer. Can't get rid of them, never use them up.

Hero arts has an amazing selection including besides their own, Brustus Monroe, ranger, stampendous, Lindy, nuvo and lawn fawn. Looking at the site always makes me wish my style used more of it. I mostly make realistic 3-d flowers or scenes.
Hands down, by far is Gina K Designs fine detail gold embossing powder. I have tried many different ones and hers has an amazing shine and when heated, melts into a smooth finish. I can't say enough good things about Gina K's ep.

If you are looking for the kind of finish in metals where you could see yourself if it was a plate...I have never run across that-I did a search for silver myself. (ink on 3's chrome is closest but not that)
It's possible a paint or leaf might be much closer but very different product.
The reg Ranger gold is shinier than the superfine but also not smooth like the superfine. It is also a darker shade.
My Wow is the ultra high (super thick) is the same tone as the Ranger super fine.
Which is another question...there are tones to them...do you care? Darker or lighter?

I have a Ranger EP that is super shiny. It is called Queen's Gold. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find it any more. Maybe you could contact Ranger...
