Default Glue sticks

I have been using UHU glue sticks for years. They were great when they had the purple caps, which they stopped making. They said the blue caps are the same formula, but I don't think so. Mine are a couple of years old, and they are starting to be really hard to apply to a substrate. Like, stickier than you want. Has anyone else noticed this? Do glue sticks have a shelf life?

Also, wanted to let you all know that I totally love the Gina K skinny glue tube that a lot of people use for die cuts, esp. delicate pieces. I've been using them around the edge of Tim Holtz Paper Dolls and they seem to hold pretty well on just about any surface. I'm so glad someone on here recommended them!

So, can anyone recommend a glue stick that actually works but isn't super gooey like some Elmer's ones I have?

I like the Scotch and Pioneer brands. I have had the same problem with glue sticks drying out lol. I don't use glue sticks as much any more, but when I do, these work for me. I am in the process of trying different liquid glues to find what works best.

Thank you! I think I'll try the Scotch--I've heard good things about it.

I've never liked liquid glues until I tried Connect glue from Gina K. I love it. I would suggest trying it if you are looking for liquid glue.

Do not buy the Scotch Create clear glue sticks, they are awful, I made that mistake last summer and have already thrown it away. It never went on smoothly because it was extremely sticky/tacky and not in a good way. It wanted to stick to itself coming out in little lumps instead. Less that six months later it was starting to get hard already which made uneven application even worse. Needless to say it got tossed after I was able to get something else. It was a total waste of $$ and gave me mega moments of frustration.

...and to those who may be wondering yes I always fully capped it after use

I like Pioneer, Scotch, and Elmer's.

I love Gina K glue but a friend discovered this glue called Bearly Art and loves it. Super fast shipping too.

I want to try Gina K next. So far I am using Ranger matte medium, Honey Bee, and Glossy Accents. I like them all for different things. I am finding myself using liquid glue more than tape runner or double sided tape to adhere panels and other things.

Has anyone tried the Nuovo Smooth Precision Glue pen? How does it compare to Gina K? I LOVE Gina K so far.

Nuvo Deluxe is my favorite liquid glue right now. I don’t use glue sticks too often, but the Elmer’s one I have seems fine.
